I fear the placemat might prove to be the more interesting about this mornings breakfast however, and I suppose I could always provide a shot of that by itself, though I won't be eating it anytime soon.

Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

Well beer is usually made from barley and hops I believe, but I suppose you could water your oats with beer and see if that would work.

I tried to look up a recipe using beer to make oatmeal but could only find recipes for Oatmeal Stout. Maybe my idea is an original?

It is probably just Google limiting me to what they think I want to look at.

I suppose I will have to try it now that I brought it up...

The week is young. Don't hold your breath. No beer for breakfast on a workday!

This brings to mind a recipe I always thought would be cool to try but haven't had the chance. Northern Pike in a beer can. I heard this years ago and I am sure they then used steel beer cans.

While fishing in your ice shack catch a northern that is the diameter of a beer can. Cut the top off the beer can. Just gut , don't skin the northern and cut it into lengths of the cans. { I forgot to say to insert the cut of northern into the can!} Place the can on top of your wood stove and cook until done. The skin will stick to the can so just shake out the meat in the center on to your plate!

The problem with posting this to the breakfast thread is the northerns don't bite in the dark so the earliest your breakfast would be ready is 10 am!

Interestingly or 'interestingly' we have a course that looks almost the same. It's called mämmi and it's quite popular as dessert. Enjoyed with cream or milk.
I haven't had any since i was 5 yo or so, but those who have this weird habit of putting these kind of things into their mouth say it's very good. Tastes like beer with sugar.
