08-16-2014, 11:36 PM #101I'm always looking for new healthy stuff to add to my smoothies. So today while I was shopping for peanut butter I noticed a new product in the offering. It's actually really nice and easy to sprinkle some in your blender. You can also mix the powder with water and it turns into a smooth peanut butter spread or liquid.
I'll toss a tablespoon of ready made peanut butter in my smoothie once in a while but it's messy and the only upside is I get to lick the spoon.

max, have you tried hemp seed? i really like it, the taste is similar to pine nuts.
and yes, you use it in food not in a bong
also i've only found one spirulina brand at the local store, so i don't have a comparison reference:

LOL...
I mix 1:1:1 ratio of shelled hemp seed, black chia seed and brown flax seed in a large container and use several tablespoons of it per day.
Other used daily super foods are
Wheat grass
Spirulina
Chlorella
Maca Root
Those I have found to be most effective and noticeable in my personal well being.

I never do the same exact blend, but here is what has become a staple in my diet nowadays:
1 Tbs Spirulina
1 tsp Chlorella
1 tsp Wheat-grass, powdererd
2 tbs Goji berries
1 tbs Cacao nibs
1-2 tbs Hemp seeds
2 tbs Chia seeds
1 tsp Bee-pollen
1 tsp Acai powder
1 tbs Maca Root.
1 tbs Coconut oil, extra virgin
1-2 tbs Flax-seeds
The above is always mixed in, or at the very least the majority of them.
It can be wise to not use all of them everyday, so I'll leave out 1-4 of them depending on my mood and the time of day.
Spinach and carrots are also added every day.
1-2 cups most days
Kale is another green used at least 5 days a week. (As Max said earlier in this thread, it does come with audible sound-effects)
Cauliflower, Broccoli and collard greens are all added several times a week.
Then it is time for the fruits and berries.
Blueberries, red or black currants, strawberries and raspberries are always kept in our freezers, I'll add 2-4 in every smoothie I make.
2-6 of the following friuts are also always present in my Smoothies:
Oranges, Pomegranates, Apples, Bananas, Kiwi, Peach, Nectarines, and tomatoes to name the ones I use the most.
For moisture I use mostly water and Ice, but will add some coconut-water if I'm in need of an extra boost say before a workout. Or after...
On an average day I will have a smoothie for breakfast and lunch, dinner is as it always has.
In addition to that I add some Whey-proteins after my runs and sometimes just make some kind of whole juice if we're thirsty or a bit peckish during the day
As you can see, I've sort of changed around a bit on my normal diet and this far I am simply loving it.
The taste of most smoothies I make is great, my system is functioning much better than before and my weight is steady at where I want it.
One of these days I'm sure it'll start to grow hair back up on the dome again too

I don't know about you, but I have zero/nada/nothing craving for coffee or caffeine infused drinks anymore and have not had a cup of coffee for the longest time which is pretty strange as I used to be a coffee junkie. The sustained daily energy and well being one gets from all these super foods is priceless.
As a side note but my dog goes crazy for my smoothies and always gets to lick the last of it. After consulting with my vet she now gets 1 Tbsp per day of either spirulina, chlorella or chlorophyll in her meal. I started with 1/4 tbsp and worked my way up. She's a small dog so a larger dog can get more. Apparently it has the same benefits to dogs as humans.Last edited by Maximilian; 09-05-2014 at 03:32 PM.

Hmm, now that you mention it I haven't been drinking as much coffee as usual..
I still join my colleagues for coffee-breaks when I feel I have the time, but haven't made one at home for a long time.
Another big change is that I rarely go for a late night snack anymore.
That was my achilles for years.
I'm always last to go to bed and that usually meant snack time.
Nowadays I hit the sack earlier, and never go to the "goodies-cabinet"
Sleep is much better now as well, along with a newfound appreciation of my wife, if you know what I mean....Bjoernar
