2 pieces of spelt bread, finely shaved parmesan and finely sliced GREAT tomatoes in about 5-8 layers, seasoned with lots of ground green peppercorns and the salt of your choice, plus some fresh basil to taste. Butter the bread on the outside and put in a sandwich press. Personally I toast for as long as I can before the bread burns.
Alternatively, beer battered chips, ultra thick & rich gravy plus well fried onion and szechuan pepper, in between a thickly buttered sourdough, untoastedIt's nice to be important, but more important to be nice

Capriotti's Capastrami. Hot pastrami, melted Swiss cheese, russian dressing, and cole slaw on a submarine roll. Large please. A nap is guaranteed afterward should you overindulge. Guess what I'll be ordering for lunch today.

I like Monte Cristos, especially the way Bennigan's used to make them:
Double-decker sandwich, turkey & swiss on one deck, ham and cheddar on the other. Batter and deep fry, then dust lightly with powdered sugar. Served with raspberry jam for dipping. That was as unbelievably good as it was bad for you!

Nothing else close:
thin sliced smoked turkey
globs of brie cheese
medium-thin crisp apple slices
Stuff it all in a warmed or toasted pita pocket."We'll talk, if you like. I'll tell you right out, I am a man who likes talking to a man who likes to talk."

Thanked: 14I am partial to an Italian Submarine - Mortadella, Hot Italian Ham, "Gabbagool", Salami, Prosciutto, Provolone. Can be cold with lettuce, onion, tomato and pepper rings dressed with vinegar and oil, or the "Hot Cut" which uses marinara sauce before toasting. Better hit the Italian grocery first thing in the am, wish I had seen this thread earlier today when I could have made it over there!
