    Default Your No 1 Sandwich

I thought I would start a thread on a subject near to my heart, the Sandwich.
I really like a well made sandwich. My current No 1 is roast chicken with chestnut stuffing and coleslaw on a soft white Marks & Spencer roll, yum

my No1 of all time is a sandwich I had in the U.S some years ago New York I think.
the name has faded the the sandwich lives on in my mind. It was made from a very slow cooked joint of Briskett coated and rubbed with all sorts of nice things then very finely sliced it was so tender it fell off apart. A large amount was the put between the bread with other things and gravy boy it was the best I have ever had.
perhaps you guys in the U.S can tell me what it was called.

So share your NO 1 sandwich, if you have a pic even better.

    Enjoy your sandwich today

In keeping with my white-trash status, mine is the McDonalds double fish sandwich...hold the tarter sauce and double the cheese. Hit the recliner afterwards for a flavor induced nap!

If it's New York you're talking about, think you might mean Katz's, awesome place, that's where, "Harry Met Sally" and the famous Big O, scene, where the woman say's, "I'll have what she's having?"

They send smoked meats to soldiers overseas, have been doing that since WW1 I believe, place is filled with pics of pretty much every President, tons of celebs, and of course, they make great food. Love the place...great choice!

2 pieces of spelt bread, finely shaved parmesan and finely sliced GREAT tomatoes in about 5-8 layers, seasoned with lots of ground green peppercorns and the salt of your choice, plus some fresh basil to taste. Butter the bread on the outside and put in a sandwich press. Personally I toast for as long as I can before the bread burns.

Alternatively, beer battered chips, ultra thick & rich gravy plus well fried onion and szechuan pepper, in between a thickly buttered sourdough, untoasted

Capriotti's Capastrami. Hot pastrami, melted Swiss cheese, russian dressing, and cole slaw on a submarine roll. Large please. A nap is guaranteed afterward should you overindulge. Guess what I'll be ordering for lunch today.

    Reuben...

...or crispy peppered bacon, peanut butter and very old cheddar on quality toasted bread.

Don't knock it till you try it!

Hot pastrami sliced THIN and piled high, melted Swiss, thin shredded lettuce, with hot mustard on a roll. These sandwiches are big! From Goodies Delicatessen.
