There were half a dozen breadmakers there but this was the cheapest and, without a doubt, the only one clean and not beaten. Working on the right challah recipe. Crust has three settings but it's always too dark and thick for most people - ok with me. French toast for breakfast this morning and it was excellent.

Mr Moo, you have convinced me to try a bread machine via Goodwill. I currently use a Kitchenaid but some days when I have little time to run it and the subsequent hand kneading I think needing a machine would insure fresh bread that busy day.

BTW is sent an email in response to your PM (we have a lot of emails between us). Did you get it?

homebound for a while and can't drive or think deep thoughts - seemed like cheap fun plus chea bread. Something to do that turned out better than expected for an impulse purchase. Hard to be disappointed for a buck-two-ninety-nine.

Go clean/cheap is my advice. There seem to be many around. Breadman is a vertical loaf and machine has a smaller footprint than horizontal-type bread machines. I can't speak to quality of the loaf from a horizontal machine but expect it would be better from reviews I have now read.

Got it and drafted half a response; forgot it, lost it, and now found it again. It goes slowly.

We had one of those machines, they work great but was not happy with the shape of the loaf, took it to goodwill.
    Prefer a traditional shaped loaf.

I have to remember not to open this thread when I'm hungry.

Tonight is pizza night so I have the dough rising now. Nothing like Pizza Dough using Antimo Caputo 00 flour.
