Looking Good! Time well spent
It's been years since I made gumbo. Did you find the real File'?
The bacon on the right reminds me of when my son was young and I'd be fixing something with fried bacon in it and he'd come in sounding like the dog in those old Begging Strip Commercials. And I'd say "Yes I cooked extra". He's still almost that bad

It was Zatarains brand file, hopefully that counts. It is ground up sassafras from my understanding.
I'll be using that extra bacon (BACON!) in some omelettes tomorrow, also in cast iron. That Griswold is incredibly slick and perfect for the job.
Yunno, I've been eating a lot better ever since I got my cast iron.

Our first try at bees wax seasoning. We use ice cube trays for molds for wax. I have a try baking in the oven at 425'F now.

Thanked: 14What's the beeswax do for the process? I've just used crisco in the past, with reasonable results on some older CI (Griswold & Wagner Ware).

They sell it in a few different offers. Some in tins, some in tins with some just wrapped in plastic wrap and some just in plastic.
I bought the 4 puck offer just wrapped in plastic for $16 and that included delivery. They arrived very quickly via USPS Priority Small Box.
I've got them stored in an old sour cream container in the frig.

I raise bees and it is fun for me to give it a try as I have some wax...
I don't think that it will hurt anything and willing to try something new.
