I've been getting fine results with my brewing. I'm just confused to when I searched google and came up with many different steeping times according to different people. Let's say for green, one person would say 2-3 minutes and another would say 3-5 minutes.

Every tea is different and will have different steeping times and methods depending on whether it's black tea, green tea, oolong or whatever and also depending on what type of tea within those categories.

Don't forget that that's without mentioning people's personal taste—while one person may brew their favourite black tea for 2.5 minutes exactly, you might prefer it stronger and brew it for 3 or 4 minutes.

Search for the recommended steeping time for your tea and then play about with it. Use more leaf...or less...use cooler water or hotter water, steep for a longer or shorter time and see what you like best. I'm told that even the type of water you use will affect the flavour of your tea.

You see, tea can be very simple—stick bag in pot and drink when ready—or it can be verging on a science. It really just depends on how weird you are, I think.
Thanks, I've been doing pretty fine with my brews as I stated above. I'll probably just stick with what I've been doing. I was just confused with some instructions some people have given.

    MichaelFrancis,
do not worry about anything, you need experimenting, which is the best for you.

As Bela, Steph, Mick and all the others have said... Personal preference...

If I invited everyone here to tea... Not everyone would like how I brew my tea...

As long as you are not preparing El Buffo or using a dirty sock then I think I'll be okay with your tea.
