Thanked: 443Linden Tea??
Slur--that looks delicious; I'll have to try it next time our lindens are at this stage.
The very best honey I have ever tasted comes from northeast Iowa, where the beekeeper has hives in linden and basswood groves, and very conscientously times her supers so that the honey is purely from the linden/basswood (generically, Tilia) nectar run. The honey tastes like that sweet smell you get from stripping bark off a sapling in early spring--it's definitely from a woody source.
Nosewarmer--if you want to check this stuff out, she usually sells it on the scenic overlook of the Great River Road (Hwy 52) just south of Guttenberg. I think she has a store too, now, at the far southern edge of town. Everyone in town calls her the Honey Lady; that might also be the name of her store.Last edited by roughkype; 11-19-2012 at 06:57 AM.

Thanked: 443Tomorrow's tea tonight
OK all you good-influence kind of guys, I've quit drinking soda at work and replaced it with green tea. Lipton in bottles for a while, then I decided that I don't like a) high-fructose corn syrup and b) drinking from plastic, so I've evolved the next step of brewing my own in a big stainless-steel bottle. Here's tomorrow's tea, from Bigelow.
There are a couple of tablespoons of honey in there, too, nothing fancy but it's nice, light clover honey. All my fancy honey is still four hours north in Grand Junction, though I'm bringing it down here next weekend.
This big bottle of tea, all brewed, is now sitting on the camper roof to cool down for tomorrow's enjoyment.
Best wishes to y'all..."These aren't the droids you're looking for." "These aren't the droids we're looking for." "He can go about his business." "You can go about your business."

Mick!! I gather from you posting, that you made it through the storm. We ended up getting a little storm, but about 100 miles North, they had one band of rain come through dropping 2 1/2 inches an hour. I got just enough here to knock out my internet from Friday night till afternoon Sunday. Gave me more time to stay off this board and drink some tea, and get some stuff done.
Take care, donv

Thanked: 298TOTM (Tea Of The Moment)
TODAY'S TEA: Bai Hao (Oriental Beauty) Oolong Tea
TEA POT: 120 ml YiXing tea pot
TEA PITCHER: Clear glass mini tea pitcher Cha hai 120ml
TEA CUP: Old Chinese Tea Cup
There are many stories about the origin of Bai Hao tea. According to one Taiwanese tea book, a tea farmer in Beipu noticed that small green insects resembling grasshoppers had damaged the leaves of his newly picked spring crop. Rather than destroying his crop, he decided to process the leaves into tea. He took his finished tea to a local tea merchant, who liked it well enough to pay him twice the price of his usual tea.
Bai Hao is also known as "Dong Fang Mei Ren" or Oriental Beauty. The origin of this name dates back to the early 20th century when a British tea merchant presented a sample of this tea to Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen was captivated by the special aroma and taste of Bai Hao. Because of the tea's lovely appearance, like a beautiful lady, and its origin in Asia, the Queen named it "Oriental Beauty".
Wishing you all a great day with a great tea!
Cheers,
