Thanked: 983Made it through just fine Don, but she was a doozy of a storm that night and I was doing a damn fine job of dodging the rain on the return trip home as well. I managed to be visiting family, then friends, and then home, all just in time to be under cover when the next three storms came through with a fourth (a supercell) after I was home in the evening. Another doozy of a storm in that one. Glad I was not out on the bike when that came through! I would have had to have gone into psyciatric care I'd reckon! That or Intensive . I think we might be in for a helluva rainy season, here in the sub-tropics.
But back on the subject. I have just found the ideal way to brew iced tea, and it has nothing to do with hot water of any kind. Just cool water, time (about eight hours), decanting (to filter out the leaf) and chilling (if you hadn't already had it chilling for the past eight hours). I have just tried my first batch of black tea (Swan) with honey and lemon/lime juice. Wow! It was nice. I've now put on a second batch using Earl Grey, Mint, Lemon and Lime Juices and Honey all added in. If it is half as good cold as it was hot (I made a seperate cup of the stuff to see what I might end up getting), it should be quite nice. No pictures yet, but I will see how I go tomorrow.

Thanked: 443Hi Steph,
Nope, not one of the Indian ones--but I've got a nested set I use for lunch on days I take a salad or some couscous. The bottle is from Wiggy's in Grand Junction. His bread-and-butter business is sleeping bags, many for the military, and other special-purpose extreme cold-weather gear. There are occasional other goodies, like these bottles. Very heavy stainless, sturdy as all get-out. It was around $40, I think, and isn't insulated, but I'll never ever have to replace it and if I ever manage to dent it I'll have been trying very hard!
There's a Wiggy's website. The bottle also comes smaller than my ~1 quart version.
Best wishes,
Tim"These aren't the droids you're looking for." "These aren't the droids we're looking for." "He can go about his business." "You can go about your business."

Thanked: 983Swan, over here, is a really crappy South Australian beer also available in other areas of Mexico like New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia. We here in Queensland only deal in decent local beers, so you don't see it much around these parts.
Swan is also a large, long necked bird, and yes, so it seems it's also a brand of tea. It is a good down to earth tasting tea too. Nothing fancy, but honest as far as tea goes in my opinion.
That sun tea you mentioned, I didn't actually stand mine anywhere warm. I just made it up in one bottle with cold tap water, put it straight in the fridge and decanted to another bottle about 24 hours later to sieve out the tea leaf. I also added the extra's at that time. My second batch has had all that added already. We'll see how it all goes.
'Brekky' is just your typical Australian desire to abbreviate words. Brekky is Breakfast (as you already know I'm sure )
