It was not bad. I thought it tasted sort of similar to a green tea, but it had a heavier feel to it, so that was nice. Nothing in particular stood out and grabbed my attention, but it certainly wasn't unpleasant. I should try more oolongs, see if I can find one I like as much as a black tea.
There are some heavily oxidized Oolong teas that you may like better. I tend to like the light/medium ones myself, but I found that the darker ones are pleasantly light feeling but with that tip of the tongue flavor of one of the Russian black teas I have tried. If you can get a sample of the different levels of oxidation I am sure you will find something more akin to what you prefer. Oolongs are one of the more forgiving teas as well, since you can steep at almost any temp and have a nice cup in the end. Just don't over-steep ... it doesn't get bitter really, but takes on a more vegetable flavor.

I have several different teas on the way from Verdant and Tea Trekker. Can't wait to give them a try.

A little while ago, after a particularily mouth-watering post right here on this forum, I ordered a new teapot and some dian hong tea. They both arrived today.

And a pic of my new yixing tea pot (ofc I could not use any of the ones I already got, I had to have one especially for black tea):

Anyways, I am very happy with both. Now I'm off to make my second steeping!

This morning I am having a "Laoshan Black" from Verdant. I like it both with and without sweetener, which is new to me with black tea. I almost always have to add some sort of sweetener.

I'm the same way. I love black teas but, almost always have to add some sugar which seems natural for blacks anyway. Oolongs which I adore however....I never sweeten them. Seems like a crime to mask their natural taste with a sweetener.

I gave lapsang souchong another chance today. I stopped by a local tea shop on the way to my car from the university today, and found a tea blend called Russian Caravan. (Admittedly, I was looking for a totally different type of tea, which I didn't find.) It had the smoked lapsang souchong, but it was blended with some non-smoked Ceylon tea, and some third tea which I don't remember. (Assam, maybe?)

It was fairly smoky, but it didn't beat me over the head with it and give me that burnt-tires taste that I got from the David's Tea lapsang. I actually quite enjoyed it. I can definitely see myself coming back and picking some more up. Shame I only found this tea now when winter looks to be finally packing its bags and leaving...

I've been under the weather for most of the week. I've been drinking a lot of lemon-flavored decaf black tea from Bigelow.

Try it in the summer. You may be surprised how it goes over. After all,...many cultures drink hot tea in warm climates and it ranges from mild to light. I'll drink hot or iced tea any time of the year. It matters none to me. Just couldn't imagine a world without tea.
