I'm drinking Assam tea this morning. The container is almost empty and I see green tea as the most likely replacement.

A few days ago, at one of the larger asian shops in town, I discovered they had genmaicha and sencha tea. Not something I come across locally, I bought a pack. My expectations were not exactly soaring, as it was clearly labelled made in china. I was pleasantly surprised, I found it a very drinkable every-day tea. Not the finest quality of cource, but it was cheap and kept what it said on the pack: "refreshing and reviving".

Is the "pop corn" actually rice?

yea, popped rice grain. Adds a certain flavor to the tea.

Funnily enough, I'm also drinking fukamushi chiran sencha.

I've always heard good reviews of chiran sencha and I don't know why it's taken me so long to try it. It's an excellent and very affordable tea.

My tea drinking had recently taken a dive because the last sencha I had open really didn't do a lot for me and it took me ages to get through. Now I remember what I do like about Japanese tea and I'm back in business!

Shincha season coming up—I can't afford to go wild this year but I'll pick up two or three packets maybe next month. Considering a new bizenyaki chawan as well, though I don't really have the cash to throw at random tea ware at the moment...

I get all my Japanese tea from o-cha.com. Shipping is very affordable. They have some of the best offerings.

I think I've only used o-cha once before. Nothing against their tea, I just find their website funny to navigate.

I've had my eye on their manten matcha for a while though. At some point I'll buy that and some of their sencha.

Yuuki-cha, who I generally buy sencha from, normally have a list of shincha to preorder from, though it looks like they're just putting it up for sale as and when it's available, this year.

The Yakushima shincha that's been released looks good though. I'm hoping it'll still be in stock when I get around to ordering. I think they normally stock their shincha offerings as ichibancha for the rest of the year though.
