Thanked: 198Re: Tea anyone ??!!
roughkype, let me ask you this. do you like strong flavored teas, or have you tried any in the past. if you like a Smokey flavored type tea, i would recommended some lapsang souchong, pu erh is a very earthy flavored tea, and another of my favorites. i would suggest finding a local tea shop and try small amounts (2oz) or so that way. if that isn't possible, i might be able to help you try some in a few weeks, i am going to be getting some teas up for the winter soon,

Thanked: 443Thank you for the very generous offer. We used to have a fine tea shop in Grand Junction, but the local economy wouldn't support it. I'll be in Denver at the end of the month and may scare up some interesting stuff there. It's not a good time to be ramping up a new (or old) hobby; we're losing the house and I'm winnowing my life to fit it into a very small camper. This isn't as bad a thing as it sounds; we can't sell in this market and won't break even for equity for many more years than we're willing to keep the house. Our payments have been lower than rent would have been, and the banks haven't behaved in any way that makes us feel we owe them any more than the years of interest we've paid them. Such is the American economy right now, and the American Dream. Had we been renting we'd have moved years ago anyway, to greener pastures. Plus, we're divorcing--but amicably, not even arguing over money and there are no kids. So I'll be free to chase greener pastures (or high wages for electricians anyway) and that's a good outcome.
Anyway, back to teas, I was fond of orange-flavored ones and liked a good Earl Grey. There were a lot of objectionable Earl Greys, at least to me, and my favorite was from Marshall Field's in Chicago. Theirs was just right for me, but they no longer exist. Woe and lament. For straight teas, I was fond of oolongs and Darjeelings, but not of smoky or really dark-flavored teas. If I want that I'll drink coffee. Didn't get into green teas either. Generally liked jasmines. Once I'm resettled, or at least repacked, I look forward to getting reacquainted, especially with pure (nonblended) teas.
I'm very glad this thread is here. For now I'll be only an occasional contributor and interested reader. Best wishes to you all."These aren't the droids you're looking for." "These aren't the droids we're looking for." "He can go about his business." "You can go about your business."

Thanked: 198well, i am have tried oolongs and darjeelings, but have found them not to my tastes buds, i was a very heavy coffee drinker up until a year and a half or so ago, and gave it up cold turkey for tea, and dont regret it, but i still love the stronger flavors. as for something with burgamont in it, i have found a russian brand of tea that i like that is absolute loaded with the stuff, almost to the point of to much, if not brewed correctly, it is completely undrinkable. i picked it up at a european marketplace, it is good but very very touchy to much tea, or to long of brew time and your sunk. i think steph knows what i am talking about in that regards. thanks to all, i didnt even notice about my thousandth post, i have to stop blabbing now.
