    Just been having a look through this thread at all the awesome pictures. I'm afraid my offering is rather below standard.

    Edit: Forgot to say it's yorkshire tea, brewed strong enough that the spoon stands up and then loosened to a drinking consistency with a drop of milk. Cadbury's crunchy on the side because I've got that Friday feeling.

    All facets of tea are to be appreciated here.. whether it be a good ol English cuppa or a Russian glass of or a Persian glass of tea or an Asian (pick a region) cup of tea ...red,green , black it's all good here. So don't be afraid to show us your tea and all it's accoutrements regardless of how humble or extravagant it is. Cheers ! And.......Welcome

    Default Tea anyone ??!!

    Apologies for not having posted anything good for ages!

    Something a little different today, as it's a very nice day in London -- iced sencha.

    I did an iced sencha post last summer but this one's a little different. Rather than using ice to steep the tea, the tea has been steeped normally, albeit with a little more leaf than usual, and then poured into a glass over ice.

    The tea today is an organic (as all my teas are) Kagoshima asamushi sencha of the oku midori cultivar, bought from O-cha.com (as a little change).

    I decided to use my little Banko yaki pot, with the cracked lid, because I rarely use it now. These photos are of the second steep and forgive the quality as they're posted directly from my phone -- no editing.

    The taste is very fresh, probably because it's cold, but not too dissimilar to when it's hot. Sweet but with a hint of astringency. Altogether very nice. I'll be doing this more often, I think.

    I have some genmaicha that I'd like to try iced, too. I'll also try to post a bit more regularly again. I didn't think I could post images from my phone but it seems I can, so this might be ideal!

    I didn't take any photos but I've just tried the same thing with genmaicha and I have to say that I'm very impressed!

    The flavours of the rice really come out at such a low temperature, and while there's still a touch of astringency from the sencha leaves, it's sweet and mellow, and very flavourful.

    I've seen a third way of preparing iced tea, where you pour cool water into you teapot (with the tea, of course), or any other vessel, I guess, and put the whole thing in the fridge for 2 to 6 hours. I might try this and take a bottle of it with me to work tomorrow!

    I use snapseed, it is free, quick and powerful. Makes editing phone pics a breeze.

    This is how I make my iced tea. I have a huge mug that I stick in the fridge overnight. With cold water it is very hard to overbrew it. I also use tea bags (like these) for convenience.

    I reckon this method is best for larger amounts.

    Pouring over ice is great for when you just want to drink it as you would drink your tea normally - very convenient and the tea comes out really well.

    I don't think that makes a lot of sense but whatever. I might edit it in the morning!

    I was cold-brewing green tea for the last few months, for my workday tea. I'd just put a couple bags in a quart stainless bottle, fill with cold water, pour in some honey, seal it up, and go. The weather was cold enough that I packed in a cooler to keep my lunch from freezing, so the tea would be nice and cold by lunchtime. I enjoyed the milder flavor that came from the cold brewing.

    Taking some lunch with me tomorrow, rather than buying something, so I've put some sencha in the fridge overnight. Today's genmaicha worked well, though as the tea warms throughout the day, sat on my desk, it's not so nice. I think I'll keep it in the fridge tomorrow!
