For a second I thought you had that new Whiskey called Tin Cup. I would have been envious. Never had the Buffalo Trace, though I have had some of their other products.

Just finished my first honing attempt on an eBay special and treating myself to one of these.
12 year old, eh? Don't see that very often. I've heard it's nice but I can't seem to find it anywhere—isn't it more expensive than the 16 year old?

It is more expensive and harder to find, I was lucky enough to get it as a Fathers' Day present last year. It's a bit lighter than the 16 but at cask strength it needs a wee drop of water or just get fire!

Sounds good. I've just bought my mum a bottle of Kilchoman Machir Bay for her birthday. I'm a little bit jealous, truth be told, but I'm hoping to get a taste at least!

While I was shopping I bought a couple of samples of Talisker Port Ruighe and Glenfiddich 15 year old Rich Oak (14 y/o?) to keep me happy.

    Talisker Port Ruighe.

Most enjoyable—obviously a Talisker; smokey and peppery with a hint of brine. Rich, thick and oily in the mouth—more so than the 10 year old (similar to the Storm, apparently, not that I've tried that one). It's not really medicinal, as such, not like an Islay anyway, but there's a taste of something similar, and there's an underlying sweetness, which is very nice, no doubt caused by the finishing in port casks.

Definitely something that I'd consider buying a bottle of. Tasted pretty good neat, if a little strong and fiery but the best came out with a good splash of water and a few minutes' wait.

Size: 30.2 KB sweet sweet Jesus! I got this from a friend of mine who wasn't thrilled about the smokiness of this elixir of joy. Springbank Calvados finish. The sweet fruitiness of the apples really comes through at an early stage, rich in flavour, nice and oily to the palette. It's a cask strength non chill filtered so it's got a bit of zing to it..

That sounds really good. I'm going to investigate the price of that right now.
