Thanked: 227I personally don't like cooled whisky so no ice, but I do like a little water in most malts. Some I'll drink straight up. Hell I have even been known to drink a blended whisky with some coke in lol I am scottish... and my only snobbery of whisky is that if I'm celbrating it has to be single malt...

With all this thinking of whisky tasting this afternoon I figured I was overdue in terms of expanding the collection. My new addition and tonight's dram comes from the isle of Jura: Jura Superstition. Lovely stuff. It's a bit weird in that while still technically a single malt (since everything comes from Jura) it is actually a blend of... well, Willie C can explain it better than I. I especially love how dismissive he is of the opinions of the "guys in the distillery who nosed it".
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

One more vid tonight that's relevant to the earlier discussion re water/ice. This is part of a whole series of videos that Charlie MacLean has on youtube that should be very helpful to anyone starting out on a journey into the wonderful world of whisky.

That's a very good video actually.
Personally—to use Mr MacLean's distinctions—I like to appreciate every single dram and I like to get the most out a whisky every time I drink it. To me that is an enjoyable drink, and I'll spend more time nosing a whisky than I will actually drinking it.
I certainly don't mean to tell people how to enjoy their drink but I do like to encourage people to appreciate and get the most out of what they're drinking, too, especially if they're missing out on all those wonderful flavours and smells without ever even realising it!
I think that the moral of this is to enjoy your whisky how you will, but what is best for you and what is best for your whisky may not be the same thing.

Not quite a Whiskey but still a fine night cap in my book.
A Ron Varadero 7 year old Cuban Rum.
A rich and complex Rum that has been a fav of mine for a few years now.
This thing drinks best neat, not even chilled.
I'm on my work-computer and for some reason it will not allow me to upload images from here.
I'll fix that as soon as I get back on my usual machine at homeBjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

thank you for the video Cangooner, it was most informative.
Picked up everything i need to make my own 100% home made Irish Cream tomorrow
Love that stuff, great with coffee, or straight
Only one problem... it slipped my mind to get a good seal able glass bottle. Im not about to drink a fifth of whisky so i can use that bottle. id be so hammered when my dad would get home, and would be in a world of shit.
(he doesnt care that i make the cream, he just wont allow me to ever get drunk. So i do that elsewhere XD )"What goes around, comes around"
I was done a favor by "Bill3152" and would like to pass it on to anyone in need

Irish cream turned out Amazing
best coffee cream ever. Beats out that imitation stuff you get at the store. The baileys non alcoholic stuff.
I deviated from the recipe a bit, made it much more chocolaty that your supposed to.. but i find its fun to experiment"What goes around, comes around"

Bought my mate a bottle of Bushmills 12yr Old Distillery Reserve as a wedding present. We decided to open and have a glass to celebrate. Several hours and a few songs later and we'd finished it.
It's by far my favourite whiskey and what I always get on a special occasion. Very difficult to get outside of the actual distillery (but I live beside it).
Forgot to take a pic. But here's a stock pic incase you wanna keep an eye out for it.
