Continuing my first venture into Japanese whiskys. Working my way through Nikka whiskys. The 17 and 21 year are to kill for. har! The coffey malt came today. This is my first venture into coffey distilled whiskys. A refreshing new taste for me. It seems bigger and more complex than their mainline single malt. More like their 17 year single malt but less expensive. The Nikka signature taste is big in all of them so far. Love it when distillers and wine makers have great signature taste. Of their coffeys I'm liking the grain over the malt.

Their 'From the Barrel' is next.

I use some coffee beans to help clear the nose and palate between comparison tastings. I'm finding this glass shape does improve the consistent tasting experience. I need to get a couple more whisky glasses.
