Can't find any other with the thumb notch in the tang only an elite and a tapered blade I can find, does anyone else have one of these or is it special rare?

    Yes...the thumb notch...awesome...first thing I noticed!

I've haven't seen many with the thumb notch, I managed to get one almost a year ago....I can't say whether they're rare or not other than I've seldom seen them...your's, I love the WR stamp as well and a 7/8 and a spike point, it's a super cool chopper...congrats, that's a keeper as far as I'm concerned!

Here's my W&B with the thumb notch (edited to add it's a 9/8):

A simple little 5/8th I rescaled. Newer blade since the word England is on the tang.

And an older 7/8th with the barber notch and a very nice thumb notch on her.

Both, great shavers, but the 7/8th is one of my favorite blades.
    Cheers.

That looks very very nice Phrank, now looking at yours if it as 7/8" mine maybe smaller then as I was basing it on a 3" long blade to get the dimensions on my screen, either way it's a keeper for sure and if it's bigger that's a double bonus
With both for $90AUD delivered to Aus that's great score I think

Looks like a 7/8 to me without a doubt...and you scored an awesome deal....both absolute keepers IMO!

And Mike, love the one you have with the thumb notch, very interesting tang, a "fine india steel set ready for use", very cool.

Valery has just sent me some pics of the Wade and Butcher he just finished restoring. This blade and scales were in very rough shape, but Valery suggested we try to save the scales and this is what he accomplished.

Wade and Butcher, Fine India Steel Set Ready for Use.

Here is the blade before restore:

Nice restore, curious why the scale color changed so much, that from the oil soak?
