    Question I need your opinions

    Hello.

I'm finishing a resto on a W&B. I've been looking at your wonderful W&B's and I can't tell from the photos if you're using intermediate washers between the razor and the scales.
I don't know if I'll put washers "inside" the handle, if I assemble it the scales and the overall razor looks "fat" and "large", if I take them off it looks better but I don't know if it's better to put a washer between the blade and the scales to prevent any "scales wear" around the pivot hole, see what I mean?

    Hi Leon,
Actually those razors are all original except for the one that Robert did. As far as the washers between the blade and the scales goes I sometimes don't use them when I restore a razor because it reduces the friction so much that the blade moves very easily and makes it very easy to open which can be unsafe. If I did put scales on a razor and it pinches the shank so much that it squeezes the blade from the scales I will put washers in to reduce the squeezing. It does reduce the wear between the shank and the scales but you are talking about a LONG time to create any results.
if anything has been abnormal for a long enough period it then becomes normal.

I think that's the case here. It moves rather quickly, so I'll remove the washers. The blade looks better that way...

    Thanks

Default Wade & Butcher Bow razor

Hi gents, I want to show you my finished work as posted in this thread.

I cleaned up this nice late 1800's W&B Bow razor. I wanted to make a 3-pin scales for a while and this was the razor I chose to do that. I'm pretty happy with the overall result.

The first picture shows the material before the assembly, the others show the final result. By the way, my camera sucks.

This is my entry into this club...Hopefully it is worthy. W&B 7/8 Celebrated with custom scales (ala Traveller)

It is a GREAT shaver...Nice heavy blade that scares the whiskers off my face. Fantastic work by Gary, though that should be no surprise.

Default Newbie found these at the flea market over the weekend

I found two Wade & Butcher straights at a flea market this weekend. I want to get one shave ready soon but know little about them...size, point, what's good for a beginner etc.

I picked up the first for $20 and the second for $5.

Nice one Doc. Gotta ask, What sort of timber are those scales ?
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.
