I should post my WR butcher. All original scales/pins and never been polished. You can see the original grind marks. The best part is the hand etched clipper ship with crew & rigging.

I have not been able to get a good picture taken though where you can see the ship.

Yeah, there's like a cream you apply to a part that you don't want to get hot & it makes you able to heat the rest of the piece red hot w/o the other part of it with the cream on it which keeps it cool & you are able to bend or straighten the rest of it while it is red hot. I know some other members on here know what I'm talking about!

The height of the stabilizer grind is lower than the grind of the blade hollowing also suggests regrinding, a good job if so. Getting a close look will be more revealing. Super clean, all it will need is a light polishing and honing to get her going.

Thank you! I plan on sending it to a good friend for proper honing.

    Default Wade & Butcher Find

I picked up a very good Wade & Butcher Magnum Donum this weekend. slightly over an Inch across the plade.
It is marked with a crown and W.R. so it should be from 1830-1837. Except a small nick on the blade it looks to be in good condition.
The scales are cracked and probably needs to be replaced.

My question is, how you would treat this on?. Leave it as is, (the patina adds to it in my opinion) or try to polish it up? if i try to polish it up I would loose the etching on the blade as faint as it is.
