Thanked: 0Hello all, I am net to this forum, but I joined mostly for this thread at this point. I have a Shumate 135 that was I believe was my grandfathers, based on the time period that of possible manufacture. (My dad would only have been about 16 when Shumate went out of business so more likely grandpa, though it would have been a brand new razor for someone just starting out.) It needs some clean up and to be honed. So even though that will cost me about high value or more (them what can't do, do pay) it will be neat to have one of their razors to learn straight razor shaving on. Here is a picture of what it looks like now. So when it gets back I will show what it looks like then. OH, I do have a question the tang is clearly stamped 135. But it is in a box that best I can read says on the larger side Fred W. (Nofer) Kirkwood, MO. and on the small side Paul Jones. Does this make sense to anyone or is just some sort of mixed up packaging?

Thanked: 0Well hopefully by this weekend I will be a "blooded" member, well hopefully not truly blooded. I just got my Shumate 135 back from Glen, he did a wonderful job on it. It looks much better than its earlier picture. This is a workhorse razor that belonged it a working man, and nothing wrong with either of those things. It should continue to deliver great shaves for many more years. And just may be some day go to a grandchild of mine.

Re: The "Shumate Shaving Society"
Here's my newest and third Shumate. A tungsteel. 4/8 but absolutely totally incredible shaver. It knocked my Wester Brothers out of the number one spot.

The "Shumate Shaving Society"
Hey Guys,
Can I be part of the SSS?
I just got my 256 from Larry @ WhippedDog. It has some pitting and some rust around the tang area but it looks like it will be a good SR.
I will try and restore it and will report back.
