That's gorgeous! Is it a custom built one?
Who is it by? Love the design.

Ild be pretty nervous putting it near my face though haha

Hey, no, not a custom build. This is Saito SK-1. I shaved with it several times by now and trust me, it is no danger. Just a lovely shaver!

    Default Japanese Straights

2 Japanese straights arrived this week. The red one is a H. Diamond which I have to clean / polish and hone. The black one with the covered tang came shave ready. Marked on the tang: 1072, but no brand name, just a logo on the scales. The 1072 mark is also printed on the covered tang of another H. Diamond I own, and I have seen it on other Japanese straights. I have no idea what the brand name of this black Japanese razor is, but I sure like the looks of it. Tomorrow in the SOTD.

Nice score mate, that looks remarkably like a Hayashi 1072 with black scales instead of the red.

It really does look identical to the Hayashi Diamond 1072. Only the name misses and the logo differs. Anyway, if it shaves alike, I'm a happy shaver!

I shaved with it this morning. For once, "shave ready" meant shave ready. I stropped it and got a very nice two pass shave. The blade gave no audible feedback but just wiped away the whiskers. This is my first razor with a Kamisori grind and I initially tried to just shave with the omote side and found it awkward. I finished the shave using both sides and couldn't tell the difference. I really like this razor.
