Japanese Straights
2 Japanese straights arrived this week. The red one is a H. Diamond which I have to clean / polish and hone. The black one with the covered tang came shave ready. Marked on the tang: 1072, but no brand name, just a logo on the scales. The 1072 mark is also printed on the covered tang of another H. Diamond I own, and I have seen it on other Japanese straights. I have no idea what the brand name of this black Japanese razor is, but I sure like the looks of it. Tomorrow in the SOTD.

I shaved with it this morning. For once, "shave ready" meant shave ready. I stropped it and got a very nice two pass shave. The blade gave no audible feedback but just wiped away the whiskers. This is my first razor with a Kamisori grind and I initially tried to just shave with the omote side and found it awkward. I finished the shave using both sides and couldn't tell the difference. I really like this razor.
