Turns out you are correct. Just an even tarnish.

Looks like I have just joined the Torrey Team. Does anyone know when the name changed from "J.R. Torrey Co." to "Torrey Razor Co.?" I have read that it was in 1880 but I find it a little hard to believe that this razor is actually that old.

Thanked: 4I've been wondering the same thing myself. Most of the Torrey Razor Co. examples I've seen look newer. Advertising makes it clear that the JR Torrey with the arrow mark was used as late as WWI. I've never seen advertising for Torrey Razor Co. My guess is that the name changed in the 20s or 30s, but it's also possible that the marks coexisted.
