As you're based in the UK and gun oil isn't really readily available I'd suggest MULTI-PURPOSE DRIP OIL, 3-IN-ONE. I use it on all my razors, including my Livi's. Scales wise I use Pure Natural Tung Oil which was recommended to me by some artisan carpenters. Brings out the beauty of the wood on my brush and scales and isn't hard like shellac that can crack over time.

I use machine oil, hair clippers.
I also use pure mineral oil that you buy at the pharmacy.
They are both great for the carbon blades.

I found some mineral oil for clippers and was going to get some beeswax for the scales. What's everyone's thoughts on beeswax ?

Renaiscence Wax or Ren-Wax is one of the best things never made for Straight Razors
You can even use it on the blades
PS; It is made in England
There are literally dozens of "Rust Prevention Test" Results to be found by a simple google search,
They are normally done using Water (mist) & Nails sometimes the Boat guys add Salt...
All you have to do is hits search and read... I promise many of you will change the oil that you choose by doing soLast edited by gssixgun; 02-27-2014 at 09:19 PM.

Ok so after some reading there seams to be good reviews for the ren wax for all types of scales but some mixed opinions for use on the blades. I have decided to use the ren wax for the scales and mineral oil on the blades.
What do you guys do shave , dry off the blade and then apply a small amount of oil on the blade and then wipe off before next use ?

I wipe the blade with a paper towel and then step on the razor strop. after I put a drop of oil on the blade and lie down with your fingers.

So a tiny drop after drying the blade and run it along the blade with fingers, do you put some on the pin? And I take it you rub the small amount of oil off before stropping again ?
Just had an email from the great Mastro both my razors are completed and my strop and they have been sent!! I will post some pictures which mastro sent me =)Last edited by Samadam; 03-01-2014 at 02:17 PM.
