Love that top-down view of the Torrey, sharptonn! What an interesting little mechanism to keep the blade closed - and I presume that's what's patented. If there's a patent number stamped somewhere, let me know and I'll dig it up?

Wel I'll be, another learning for today
I thought the tabs on the Torreys were just a guide or protector, not a locking mechanism
Some good old American free thinking ingenuity working again
very nice double addition Sharptonn
would certainly still really love a beautiful Torrey like these to help even out my continental teams & persuade my prejudice for an American made classicSaved,
to shave another day.

Indeed, true! My Torrey had a loose pivot. Instead of whacking upon the pin, I unpinned it. Glad I did as the pearl was starting to crumble under the spacers. Cleaned it good and am building up the pearl with CA. I will fashion a brass tube to go through the tang and CA some spacers to the tang While it is apart, I will do some rubbing on the scales and clean the rust off the tang between the pearl halves. Then, the prospect of honing this hard steel looms. I have had to take more than one Torrey back to the rocks!
As you get them shaving, they excell at edge retention with a good stropping.
I wonder why no entries from those with a local connection/interest? Surely we have some Pennsylvania guys who love the local-made razors? A New York razor nut? Fremont Ohio? St Louis? Connecticut, the birthplace of it all (including Torrey, BTW)?
Let's hear, Gents!"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

I already made my post as a Worcester, Massachusetts local
Razor rich, but money poor. I should have diversified into Eschers!
