Well , it was my first duty assignment after basic/AIT. I was a Forward Observer , or 'FO' (13F1O). My unit was HHB 1/22 FA which was later re-designated as HHB 2/1 FA located in Zirndorf, Germany. My father is retired Army , and I had already had 3 tours in Germany with him , so I felt quite at home there already.
It was a lot of good times , and good beer. I can't drink many beers over here now as I can't get past the taste. Though I do like some of the micro brews about now. But give me a Heffe Weissen any day and I'll be happy.

my entry is a spot of poetry
THE RAZOR ROAD
Down the razor road I go
My chins whiskers growing slow
As one of few to wield a straight
Drive for the best does not abate
Waiting for the time to come
When blade is wielded by finger and thumb
Its a time for ritual and habit
As creams and balms would have it
Upon my face they go
As I continue down the razor road.
The blade is sharp and fast and sleak
As it glistens across my bearded cheek
The whiskers hardly whisper
As the morning air grows crisper
Up and round and back across
My patience is what makes me boss
The blade is made the greatest
And always shaves the smoothest
The shine reflects a story
For it is an American, a Torrey
Its purpose done the shave complete
Away to dry, all clean and neat
The razor shone and glowed
All down the razor road

I think he pulled a switcheroo and replaced American for Australian and then the razor name too-Har har.

I own a Hart and that is a perfectly legit comparison. Uncle Sam issued the first Colt 1911 I ever held. Both machines are effective, efficient, and perfect for their task. With proper care both will last for hundreds of years, both hold a masculine appeal that is primal.
The Hart is a perfectly balanced utilitarian tool that gets the job done every single time. When you hold one in your hand, you know you are holding a quality made American tool; everything will be just fine. It is high quality tool steel with a surgical edge which when wielded properly gets the job done well.
If it is dark and scary, tell me you don't feel better immediately with that 1911 in your hands. Everything is going to be fine.
If you have little experience applying a surgical instrument to your face, hold that Hart and you absolutely feel the confidence. This tool is not going to be the problem. It is on you and you are holding a truly modern distillation of the finest: Made in the USA. It is a big place and we've taken our knocks, but when push comes to shave we still get the job done well.
Best,

Well, it ain't no brand-new Hart, but produced about the time the 1911 was developed, this Torrey shaves GREAT!

Beautiful razor, I really like the way the tang is executed. Thanks for sharing the picture.

I wish there could be another contest. My Macbook Pro went out on me & i was w/o it for a few days but I was wanting to write on my Northfield Rattler. It is a good razor & i can't say enough about it. Maybe again one of these days we can have another contest. Just my luck that my macbook would go out on me when it did. Maybe it was a reason for it but maybe there can be another contest again in the future.

Thanked: 1587There once was a razor from Torrey,
That fell off the back of a lorry.
It snapped at the pivot
And the edge has a divot.
Sold as NOS on the 'bay, no refunds sorry.
