Chasing the Holy Grail razor/brush/soap is fun but in the end not really worth the effort for me if a good shave was the primary objective. There are plenty of mundane less costly products that will do the job nicely. Just a little jaded I guess.

Absolutely. I truly wish people would stop talking about Holy Grail razors. Prime example being the mass produced Filarmonicas. I challenge any whatever the name of the hyped Filarmonica du jour is to beat this (thank you, Tim): http://straightrazorpalace.com/srpwi...Special%22_8/8

I get just a little worried when you and I agree on something.

I the world of wine there are the wine drinkers and the wine collectors. Both drink and both collect. But collectors get their kicks from possession and drinkers get their kicks from consumption.

I think the analogy is a bit off. There are alcoholics, amateurs, connoisseurs, and collectors.

Just like in the shaving world there are hoarders, eBay junkies, connoisseurs, and collectors.

And we are talking about hoarders vs connoisseurs here.

Obviously Robin you have never shaved with the famous and coveted and mythical Chronik Razor.

I have not, indeed. And neither have you, or else you would be an expert in pens, leg shaving, and shilling Chinese import crap by now. Which, thankfully, you are not, Nelson.

I have shaved with a Chronik. No Mythos there. Decent Solingen razor but you can find better. I think that was another one of those razors that got its flames fanned by constant fanboy buzz

I have a 6/8 vintage revisor and 5 Puma's. A friend gave me a 6/8 89 to try and I liked it so much I bought it at a great price. Puma's are like cashews, once you have one you just can't stop. Love them puma's.
