I have a Boker Damascus I bought new a few years ago. It's not vintage, pretty new and it's an A-1 shaver and came shave ready.

I bought a new Boker Silver Steel this year and I'm very happy with it. It's one of my best shavers BUT I bought it from SRD and Lynn honed it to perfection.

nice! I was ganna get a silver steel too... I just thought the micarta seemed cool. I would have no problem honing this up if it wasn't for the offset edge.

The last time I checked SRD, Lynn is still out of stock on the Boker Silver Steels. My advice is this---> if your razor is tweeked you should return it, if possible, and then wait until Lynn gets a new shipment in. Remember, pretty scales don't cut the whiskers............it's the blade.

Bokers are nice razors and even the new ones! I would say you maybe got a razor that slipped silently by QC. Then again, you said you do not get honed razors because you like to do it yourself. So I would not expect much from a non-hone razor at all.

I like mine shave ready...............so I buy from SRD and TSS mainly. I can hone okay and set a bevel so I have nothing to really prove each time I get a new razor. I just wait for it to need a touch up or if I mess up the edge from dropping a razor then do a bevel set and full progression.

I would contact the retailer and ask for an exchange and see what the next one may bring before totally writing off a Boker.

I went and looked at the ad for your razor and it looks like what you got to me. Now I can't see the full heel in your pics but it does look like it's going the right way. As for the edge I see 1 side has a nice thin bevel and the other looks like the bevel is fat in the middle. Maybe the light , maybe the problem. As for the grind the ad says hollow, but not "How hollow" .
I have and had some older Bokers and they are all nice razors.
The popular opinion is the older the better with any production razor. Just saying. I never had a new razor except NOS vintage.

Keep it off the stones and contact the vendor if you not happy with it. I have never had to return much but when I did my vendors always send me a replacement with return shipping label and a note. If you don't like either please send them both back with the supplied label.

I packed her all up, have to wait till I can call them tomorrow to get an RMA number. I would take another pic and show you but don't want to un pack all of that. The heel in the pic is all nice and pretty rounded, mine is flat and square. Some google pics do show it both ways though.
I guess I will have to chuck this up to "another bran new item that turned out horrible"
I am known for receiving things like this. It is like a curse of mine.

If the razor is faulty ask the vendor for a refund or replacement. That would probaby have been my first course of action.

Simply put, if your not happy with your purchase return it. But do so in the received condition. Don't go honing it if you arent happy with it to begin with i.e. your just trying to put a good edge on it.
    Insert witty statement here, T.B.D.
