I think you may have used too much pressure simply.
I had the same years ago going from an average 5/8 "shave ready" Heljestrand to a hefty 8/8 Henckels absolutely shave ready razor.
Using the same pressure as on the Helje I felt the first shaves were intimidating.
When I realised that I finally had a shave ready razor for real, I started easing up on the pressure and let the razor do the work.
That worked. I now use minimum pressure, if at all.
I have many 8/8 and 9/8 even some 10/8 with some weight on them and it's not always easy to only let the razor do the work.

Thanked: 480No worries Sashimi... There is most certainly a learning curve to this puppy. Had the same thing when I went from 5/8 to a 7/8 Henckels myself. (somthing about those twins!) I'm pretty sure your correct about my using too much pressure. Using it to lop off an inch long beard helped Nothing! I'm betting the next shave will go a lot "smoother"

though your avatar says "the first cut is the deepest" Id say with lopping off a 1" beard the first cut should be the opposite
I remember only one time going for a long haul between shaves and then going for the "beard off" shave..... easy goes the first pass and then for me it was two easy clean up passes to bbs. Other times I had a weeks growth and testing a new razor, Went to lop off the whole thing, get down to skin in one pass and felt the rosey burn afterward. bbs yes, but those last 2 passes seemed to take a couple layeres of dermis with emSilverloaf

Thanked: 7Just got my Rigarazor in the mail today of the Mappin lancet design. I have to say that out of the box, it is spectacular looking razor, one the best ones I've seen. I plan on giving it a test drive in the morning. If it shaves as good as it looks, I may not be able to work tomorrow.
