Mine was a Dovo Pearlex from SRD. It is still part of my rotation, it's a decent razor.

    LOL..... (Sorry Steve)
(I saw my post in yours too)........

I'm sure in a few years someone will else will do another type of thread like this one ....... So many posts on this site, hard to keep up with them all......
It's great we have some of the links of older posts in this one..... Gives all of more "eye candy" on some sweet straight razors of our pasts.....

CRAFT is getting to me more and more these days.......

My first blade was a gift from my bro.
    A 5/8th Dovo from
    Taylor's Old Bond St.

It put me off Dovo's for life.

The shop keeper insisted that it was shave ready. (Not)
I sent it twice for pro honing.

To this day I still haven't had a shave from it. It pulls badly.

I took the scales from it and added them to W & B (amazing shaver).
Turns out the Dovo is Stainless Steel ,hence The problems.
    What a waste of £200 .
Still, it lead me to where I am today.
One day I will resurrect it

A Jorco bought from a forum member here. He had regripped it with some very nice wood and sent it to me shave ready. My son developed dirt lip at 14, and I gave it to him. It was an EXCELLENT introduction to this world.

5/8 Ralf Aust from Straight Razor Designs. Great no-nonsense shaver. My current favorite is a 6/8-7/8 Henckels 72-V off the bay.

My first razor/s, I bought two identical brand new Dovo Prima Klang 5/8. One I had honed by an expert honemeister a member of distinction on this forum Havachat45 The other I tried to replicate the pro result. Those were my 1st steps. Both still are in my preferred razor pile. I now have over thirty, and I have too many hones to mention. lol

    Douglas cutlery 9/8ths damascus
followed quickly by a 7/8ths theirs issard french point.
followed quickly by stones, because they were both OOTB not really shave able, but now still loving them 40+ razors deep

Wostenholm pipe wedge. It was probably a 5/8 new, 170 years ago, but when a friend gave it to me it was reduced to 4/8 if that. Hone wear to the extreme, pitting, corrosion, broken scales. I cleaned it up and honed it, but it was not a good shaver. It is now on display. The first scales I ever made, and they ain't purdy. It did teach me a lot though about restoration and how to shave with a straight razor.

    Hyperbole is highly exaggerated.
