Not the first straight I bought, but the first straight given to me. My step-father's father's kit.
The first I bought was a Dubl Duck Satin Wedge by Pearlbuck and a Wild Turkey Handmade Collection (still researching this one).
Found them both at a local antique shop. Got the pair for $45.50. The DD was $14 and I think I got took on the Wild Turkey.

Thanked: 3God help me my first straight was a Gold Dollar haha but after that first shave (it honed up well enough to give a good shave that time lol) RAD set in and my first real razor was a 9/16 Wade & Butcher square point. I still have it and it still shaves phenomenally although no longer in the rotation. As for the Gold Dollar it was given away and started another case of RAD in a coworker.

First straight was a Dickenson's Invicta 5/8, quickly followed by a 6/8. Both honed by myself - the hard way to learn straight shaving and I wouldn't recommend it. I would however recommend the Invicta razors - they're rare as rocking horse s*%t on the 'bay so if you find one grab it - carefully of course

Dovo Best quality 5/8,
Unfortunately it is KO ATM, nicked the blade and havent had time to play with it. Still working on my honing skills and will get decent at that before I start to try and repair edges.Last edited by AlanQ; 09-11-2016 at 02:58 PM.

First was a Joseph Elliot's"The Hamburg Ring" 6/8. Still have it. Got it in a leather dopp kit with a trashed shorty included for $7 at a flea market. The 'Ring' is in great shape and is a wonderful shaver.
