A 5/8 Wade & Butcher w/ barbers notch, purchased at an antique mall and restored by Josh Earl. Sold years ago. I do however still have the third razor I ever purchased.

Wow, restored by Josh! That would've been something, he does some fine work. I tried to contact him recently but got no reply.

When I got my first straight I didn't pay much attention to the maker. Just some Sheffield guy. I got it about 25 years ago. lol. That's a long time! Bought at an antique store, I used it til it went dull, then moved on to DEs. More than a few years later I stumbled on this site and realised I gotta hone them too.

Ralf Aust 5/8 round tip from SRD. I don't have it any more but I have 3 other Austs. Wonderful razor. Great price, quality and performance. Really holds its edge.

My first was a 5/8" German made Koken square point that I still have & use. I Learned a lot with that razor , shaving honing & stropping were all learned on it. Payed $12.00 I think.

Willis, I don't know if anyone posted on this yet because I haven't seen some of the posts but I started a Razor Club about this & once I did, I think someone else did it before me so we never know sometimes. You can see my first straight here in the club I started:

EDIT: I just looked & you were one of the people who liked my first post on there.

My first razor I still have and will be clutching it the day I die. If there's ever an emergency or fire, that is what I'm grabbing. Simply because of its sentimental value. I posted this before, but too lazy to find it.

It is a Case razor, plain jane round tip with some fancy etching. My father bought it for me over a decade prior to today, when we were on one of our annual motorcycle rides to the Zippo/Case visitor center. We would attend the "Zippo Days", which I think is no longer held. It was usually a small affair with some vendors and food stands in Bradford, PA. Of course, there was always the Zippo Car. We started going because it is a nice ride through the country roads from Milwaukee, usually on route 6 or 66 through the Allegheny Forest. Well, there was a gentlemen there with probably 50 Case straights and all NOS. I saw them and wanted one, which my father purchased as long as I used it when I could finally shave. I promised him that I would. Fast forward to 2011, me being out of college and broke. Had an interview the next day and no money for replacement blades. Whilst wallowing in my self pity, I recalled the razor sitting in a rubbermaid tote with all the other memory laden items of my past. Bought a VdH brush and soap (cheap than with the bowl) then went to town good and slow. I think the adrenaline and need made me shave well that day, as I recall it being a fine shave. I may have not gotten the job, but that razor sure did. Will add pics when I can.

My first razor says Lauteryung & Co. "Solingen" on one side of the Tang and "Tiger 52" on the opposite side. Its a 4/8th that was probably a 5/8ths sometime in its earlier life. I bought it out Antiquing with my younger brother who introduced me to straight razor shaving. Now I have around 20+ razors and my brother has around 8 that he is selling for me.

My first straight was Grampa's Lakeside Cutlery Army/Navy and his barber hone. Followed next by his brother's Wade and Butcher and coticule. After those two I got three razors from my Great Uncle Noah, a Shumate, a No Name, and a Henry Sears. The last razors I bought were a L.A. Razor shavette, a new Boker Silver Steel, a Wiss, Henkles, and a W.J. Donovan. All of them are in rotation.

My first (and still favorite) is a J. Wiss 346 6/8 half hollow. I bought it as a sight unseen from Larry at WhippedDog who loused up my request for a 5/8 and sent me the Wiss by mistake.

    Love that razor.
