Thanked: 2Hey Guys,
I just gave it a hone last night with 4000/8000 stone then linen and leather and then shaved with it this morning. I could have spent way more time on the honing but even with a medium effort it is holding an awesome edge I can feel the quality difference already. I am interested to see what happens when I get the .5 diamond spray for the felt. So far so good!

Thanked: 4942This is surprising to us as well as we test shave every razor before they go out. In addition, we never mind re-honing one if someone is not happy with it. No problem sending it back to us and we'll pick up the postage. I find these razors pretty nice shavers.
Thanks,
Lynn

Thanked: 2Thanks Lynn,
I have normally had a good experience with the razors that you have honed for me so I am not sure why this one was like that. I appreciate the offer to rehone but it is shaving great now Luckily I have read some of the great tutorials from SRP and I can now get a good edge on a razor. I am very impressed with the razor steel and the scales as well. Thanks for making it easier for people to get quality supplies for this addictive hobby.

I'd say it's between a VII and an VIII on this chart
I think the size (5/8 ") makes the blade feel firm, even though it's pretty thinly ground. A light touch really chops through the whiskers.

I have shaved with mine twice. Great razor, it slices through my beard quite smoothly. I may have to but another to put into my rotation.

Silver steel typically does not contain any silver. It can be polished to look like silver that's how it got its name.

@Quaxile: I checked the Boker site and indeed they say it does contain silver.

Thanked: 2So how would the silver give the blade a better edge?
