New Boker Edelweiss at SRD
I just noticed SRD has new Boker Edelweiss for $139.95.
Anyone had any experience with these new ones compared with the older ones? For the price, compared with a mid-range Dovo, they seem like a steal.
There has to be a catch somewhere doesnt there? Or am I not comparing apples with apples?
It does seem it is the entry-level Boker on their website, so maybe I should be comparing with entry-level Dovos? Or are they just better?

Thanked: 2Hey,
I am not sure about how it shaves but when I saw it I could not resist.
I have ordered one and will let everyone know what it's like when it gets here. I do wonder what kind of steel the razor is made of as it does not specify on the site. It mentions silver in the alloy so I am wondering if that will cause it to hold a better edge.

Silver steel is used by dovo too... though I feel the amount of silver is more of a gimmick than anything. Could be wrong. Silver steel typically refers to standard carbon steel with a little itty bitty bit of silver, or even just carbon steel with a certain mixture (shines up real nice, but has no silver). Once again could be wrong.
I heard the vintage ones were good and I'm on the prowl for a vintage one, but I may cave and get this one... such simple elegance. If only the scales were ivory or horn... I wouldn't even think. Just buy lol.
Please let us know how the new ones shave?

Thanked: 488Great razors. Lynn did say he thought the steel was harder than the old ones. Not really a bad thing and it is a good price.

Thanked: 2Yeah, I just have one of the $75 beige handled Dovos with a carbon blade right now and I have been shaving with a straight for a year now. Thought it was time to upgrade. I will keep you guys in the loop when it gets here. I just got shipping confirmation this morning

Thanked: 488We just started getting these new ones recently. The first I saw was about three weeks ago. I'd love to get one of the new King Cutters:-)

That new King Cutter does look cool. Also interesting that it looks like they used the identical as near as I can tell, design for the blade stamp/etch as the original King Cutter minus the gold wash.
And before anyone makes a crack that I posted this pic just to have an excuse to show this one off again, I would take great offense to such an accusation.
