The only razor I have ever owned is my Best Quality DOVO.
No issues at all. I would buy another.
As far as Chinese made, their factories are not set up for high quality work. It's all about mass produced at lowest cost. The name "Wal-Mart" has been used in this thread.
Of course, you get what you pay for and if one is content with Wal-mart quality at a Wal-mart price, then all the power to them.

Thanked: 735BeBerlin has used GDs and formed his opinion in that manner, and has stated his views. That is what these forums are for, and what makes is so useful to all of us.
Have you also actually tried a GD, or are you basing your opinion on circumstantial evidence, hearsay, and assumptions on your part?

Thanked: 14I only found the warping after I had used them for a while, the first, the basic entry level Dovo (my first SR) for ~6 years before I tried to hone it (my first time). As I honed it I noticed it was warped, as I was inexperienced I did not know what to do and just left it. I later picked it up again about 4 years later and managed to get it shaving sharp albeit with a very ugly bevel.
The other one is a Bismark, I tried honing that one after I got the other Dovo shaving sharp, but gave up when it appeared that it was so warped that I could not even get the bevels to meet.
I will post photos when I get home.

Thanked: 1903Let me quickly summarise:
- The honewear clearly indicates uneven pressure while honing.
- The edge looks a complete mess because of that.
- There is absolutely no way to tell whether it was your honing with uneven pressure or the alleged warp in the blade that caused the damage.
- What are those pieces of tape doing on the razors? Are you covering some even more horrible honewear, or did you actually try to hone the razors like that?
Sorry, but I am not convinced at all. To be honest, everything but convinced. Because it is always tempting to blame the blade, while in fact the damage is caused by improper honing. Ask one of the honemeisters, they have some funny stories that begin with "I bought this razor, and the blad was warped, and it wasn't shave ready, and...".

While I agree this could be from the tape job itself, the below does look rather like a spine problem... I'm not particularly experienced in this, though, so I could be wrong.

Thanked: 1903Well, Benjamin, that's what I meant when I politely suggested that whoever honed that razor (and applied tape in LSD induced patterns for this purpose) has a lot to learn in terms of honing. A lot.
