Have you let anyone else try honing and shaving with that Livi? I think it would be worthwhile to give it a shot.

That is just what I was thinking about. Do you have any suggestions?

I was disappointed a little with my Livi new grind when I got it but after I honed it, it was a completely different razor. Now it's one of my favorites. It's very sharp.

Actually, right after honing I am very happy with this razor. It will not hold an edge through the entire shave.
I think holli4pirating has the right idea. I will send it to someone to hone and shave with. If I am wrong then I would like to know. Also, I'll be gaining a great razor.

My list of "overrated:"
1st place goes to the Gold Dollar, which has been talked up more than any other crappy razor in the time I've been doing the SR sport. These things are bad steel, badly ground, terribly scaled, and yet there are people who talk about them like they are God's $2 gift to the shaving man. I guess if it is cheap enough, some people will think it's amazing.
2nd place goes to the Filarmonica no14 Barbas Duras. Yeah, it's big; yes, it hones and shaves nicely. Sure, it's attractive. But yes, it was a mass-produced razor that is not at all in short supply. I find it overrated not for its shaving properties, which are very nice, but for the fact that they commonly fetch $500 or more. I guess if it is expensive enough, some people think it's amazing.
3rd goes to the much-discussed Wapienica, due to the inconsistency of their steel and provenience. No idea how many different factories, companies, people produced the "Wapi," and a fair number of them are duds. They may not be as bad as a GD, but they also sell for 20x the price. For the money people spend on these, they could be getting sweet Sheffield razors, but instead they buy a roulette-steel autoclave-ready razor made for shaving the body hair off of Soviet hospital patients. I guess if its shiny enough, some people think it's amazing.

Thanked: 1371Gold Dollar: The ex-wife razor... It's scary lookin' and virtually useless.
Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.
