Thanked: 1195Many of us have received confirmation from Robert Williams regarding our orders, so it is a go. Please understand that he is very busy; it took me a few tries to finally get ahold of him.
As for availability, don't worry. Last I heard (late last week) he was nowhere near the maximum order of 200.

I'm not ordering one as I (1) do not have that kind of money, (2) have no need for a custom, (3) one of my shaving 'scene' pet peeves is limited editions and (4) apart from being a member, do not feel such a strong familiar affiliation with SRP enough to have it say so on my shaving gear.
That being said, I just wanted to post here as this is the best looking custom razor I have ever seen. Period. A thing of great beauty, if I ever would be tempted to buy a forum limited edition of anything it would be this, no doubt. This just deserves compliments.

You will get done for customs. Just been clobbered £17.60 (includes 8quid Royal Mail handling fee) for something that cost £140. For some reason i've bought stuff from Israel and it has come free of charge. Stuff from the states will be opened. The only way of avoiding it is if the sender does the following:
Gift parcels
A gift mailed to Britain is not free of duty and VAT merely because it is a gift. Gift packages can be sent to the UK free of Duty and VAT only if they comply with these rules:
The value of the goods must not exceed £36 (approximately $72).
Packages must be correctly declared.
They must have been sent by a private person abroad to another private person in Britain.
The gift must be for the use of either yourself or your family.
There is no commercial or trade element.
Any alcohol, tobacco products, perfumes or toilet waters are within the Customs allowances and costs (see above).
They must be of an occasional nature only, such as a birthday or anniversary.
more info here. It's a bloody rip off like. Basically get the sender to supply no receipt, add a birthday card and when they fill in the customs declaration form it must be under £36. If its over 15 it will also incurr VAT charges. Cant believe i got charged for a 2nd hand razor off eBay.
Where can I find customs information on sending gifts or other packages to Britain?

Thanked: 7I do not think that a razor such as this is a matter of need. It is just another luxury and beautiful piece of equipment that you can use to scrape your face daily. I do not feel a particularly strong connection with SRP that it NEEDS to be on my shaving gear. However, I also do not feel a particularly strong connection with Simpson (yet their name appears on my brush) nor with Sears (who marketed and marked one of the straights that I use.) In this case, a member put together this purchase and it seems fair to brand the razor.
I understand about not liking the limited edition part of shaving and usually agree... Mostly because it is usually nothing more than a way to get additional money for the same product (it is just my opinion- but look at Simpsons brushes that they limit.) In this case, it seems that the result of the limited edition is a price reduction due to a group buy. I think it is more a way to keep the maker from having to commit to producing nothing but SRP razors for the next 10 years if he received orders for 1000 blades. It gives him a way to plan his work and puts an end in sight (you have to believe that a craftsman used to making customs does not want to produce one style, one size, one colour razor for the rest of his life...)
Overall, I am still attempting to resist. Every time I log on my resistance is worn down when I look at the beauty.

Thanked: 1195Okay guys, we get it if you don't like customs, or feel no personal connection to SRP or think group buys are silly, whatever. The fact is no one is forcing anyone to buy anything, or to even read this thread. Jimmy and Robert Williams should be commended for their hard work on this project; hats off to both of them. I for one will be proud to have a LE SRP razor, logo and all. And I know I'm not alone. So if you want one, they are available to all members . If you don't, then don't.
Regards,
Ryan82
