Can there be any doubt that Mastro Livi knows what he is doing, regardless of how we may perceive the videos ? Regardless of lap counts, chrom-ox, leather, which hone, the man who made these straight razors knows what he is doing, and I'm sure the result will be superb.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I ordered a custom Livi from Don a few years ago. I sent him a drawing of what I wanted and he forged the blade and I made the buckeye burl scales to go with it. Nice razor.

I raised the shoulder of this Livi above the plane of the blade edge and honed it from scratch. This blade is one of the two best shavers I own. It leaves virtually no stubble. It is not for sale or trade ever and allow me to thank the seller. Thanks Jimmy..............JERRY
OOOPS! Pass the styptic please.

I just returned from London where I saw the heaven of shaving. You'll wonder, but as you've done with this bad English? Well I did, a true miracle! I want to greet friends Antonello and Entropy (coming soon in Italy !!) and about this topic I think a razor when it comes out of a laboratory or a factory should be used with great delicacy and treated with the strop. After a few shaves you can 'pass on the chrome and then again on the scalp. In this way a razor continues to do his job for several years. Only after several years and several tens of shaves razor may 'need to be passed on a stone and grit must' be fine. If you follow these tips that Mastro Livi, the life of a razor will be 'insured for several generations, but if there is sudden grinders then begin serious problems and the razor turns into a hoe, will cut obviously not' more '. I have several razors that I alternate in my shaven everyday, some new, some vintage, but still cut very well without having been passed on the stones, apart from a pair purchased on the web that were not shave ready and so 'I sharpened them personally, but from then no longer have 'seen the stone. This is my experience and my thoughts.

Today shave is dedicated to the endless talent of Mastro Livi and his art. Brush, strop and razor are all made by Mastro Livi and, by the way, the straight razor is very special. Not only for being a superb shaver, but also for the fact this is the very last new grind ever made by Mastro Livi, the one ending the glorious story of those seventy years old blades and brought to life by Mastro Livi. This is the razor I filmed in the video I made in which Mastro Livi tells the story of these blades and razor. By the way, the shave was superb, the brush super soft and pleasing, the lavender smell of Weleda soap was simply a lovely touch to this amazing shave. The RazorGuy - StraightRazorChannel on Youtube and Google+

The pleasure of shaving with this Mastro Livi kamisori is always immense. It is also true I like Damasteel very much, not only for the beautiful patterns they make, but also for the deep and efficient shave it can give. As a matter of fact, all of the Mastro Livi straight razors I have made from Damasteel give a very deep shave and maybe this kamisori is the one giving the deepest of them all. I also love the handle: the beautiful bluish patterns and shades of the abalone are absolutely charming and enchanting to see, moreover, being that big, it improves the grip quite a lot. Magnificent shaver, excellent result! The RazorGuy - StraightRazorChannel on Youtube and Google+

also my Kamisori is very nice size and in an excellent way. I just have to improve my technique with this fascinating instrument. Congratulations on your razor. It seems to me that the brush is made from Mastro Livi. Am I wrong?

You are absolutely right! It is a Mastro Livi Silvertip Badger brush, with a 26mm knot and the handle is made from Madagascar ebony.
Shaving with a kamisori is different although amazing and it can sometimes push you to the next level of smoothness. Kamisoris are usually very deep in shaving and it takes sometime to improve and understand the proper technique. It is however worth it because the reward is very high.
I have some kamisoris in my collection and two of them are made by Mastro Livi. I admit this one in Damasteel is very special because of the handle and the thumb notch which improve, in my opinion, the grip and therefore giving a better control. The RazorGuy - StraightRazorChannel on Youtube and Google+

I love this razor! Today shave has been superb thanks to a magnificent couple: this Mastro Livi straight razor and Martin De Candre soap, one of my very favorite shaving soaps! I am very fond of this razor, not only because it was the very first Mastro Livi straight razor of which I personally witnessed the making, but also because it is an absolutely superb shaver! I bought this razor more than one year ago and, so far, I have never honed it and it still shaves like the very first day. Not even a touch up with chromium oxide. Moreover, it has olive wood scales, a type of wood I like a lot because of its beautiful pattern and for being a typical wood of Umbria which trees give us an extraordinary oil, also good to be used as a pre or post shave oil.The RazorGuy - StraightRazorChannel on Youtube and Google+
