Thanked: 56I wish I hadn't read this thread, haha. Now I want one for myself. Beautiful work...it would be the highlight of my collection (which is still practically nonexistent). I will wait and learn what I like the most, and then take the plunge. I just hope Maestro doesn't decide to retire before then!

Don't worry: Mastro Livi is alive and kicking and has no intention to give up making straight razor. His whole life has been dedicated to this - carrying on a family heritage of six generations long, starting at the beginning of the 1700s - and he is involved in making and experimenting razor every day of his life.
I would strongly suggest you to come to Perugia and visit Mastro Livi laboratory: watching the making of your straight razor is a wonderful experience, not to mention the pleasure of testing it in Mastro Livi barbershop.The RazorGuy - StraightRazorChannel on Youtube and Google+

Drilling the cylinder of amboyna burl. This will be the bottom part of the handle
Drilling the olive burl piece in order to accommodate the loft with a 24 mm knot
Refining the bottom of the amboyna piece
All the handle's pieces are now finished and ready to be assembled together in order to form the handle.
From left to right:
- Amboyna burl piece to be used for the bottom of the handle
- Pau Violeta disk
- Juniper disk
- Makassar ebony disk
- Olive burl piece to be used for the top of the handle and for assembling the loft
On the top, the badger silvertip loft with 24 mm knot
