I am glad to read you have a new Mastro Livi on order and it sounds quite awesome! You made me laugh about your son-in-law and the Italian certificate!
It is however great to hear your son-in-law enjoyed the velvety caress of a Mastro Livi razor. Great to see that! The RazorGuy - StraightRazorChannel on Youtube and Google+

Thanked: 96Mastro Livi reminds me a lot of my son-in-laws grandfather. When he heard I was shaving with a straight razor he told me growing up in Italy it was a right of passage to be taught how to use a straight razor. He said his father told him he couldn't be a real man unless he shaved with one. He would have loved to talk to Mastro Livi. He would sit for hours talking about the region northeast of Rome they lived in. It is a shame he passed before he could get his hands on a Mastro Livi.

Your son-in-law is right but this is something belonging to the past: today in Italy you barely see young men shaving and in case they do, they use an electric razor. The most adventurous ones use a disposable multi-blade razor, a minority of the uses a DE razor and just a small bunch of them is interested in straight razor shaving.
I am sure your son-in-law now honored his father's will by shaving with a straight razor, not to mention with an Italian straight razor made by the most revered straight razor maker we have in Italy, one of the most revered ones in the world for sure.
I sincerely wish you and your son-in-law to meet Mastro Livi one day: he too is the kind of person who could sit for hours talking in good company. As a matter of fact, Umbria is the region where both Mastro Livi and I live in (and Perugia, the city where we both live in, is its capital city) is northeast of Rome so, I guess he was referring to Umbria or maybe Marches? The RazorGuy - StraightRazorChannel on Youtube and Google+

Thanked: 2In Sicily and southern Italy many young men still use real razors with which to shave.
At least many of those which I have met...not all but the majority from the places in which I have stayed.

What a Luxury Shave!
A luxury shave! My pre-shave oil, my almond shaving soap, not to mention this Mastro Livi RWL34 razor and, to put the icing on the top of cake, Floïd the genuine, to me, the very best aftershave. Floïd has a special and refreshing touch, it cools your face like no other, giving a super smooth and velvety sensation on your skin. Not to mention its fragrance, something recalling to my memory when I was a kid and was going to the barber for a hair cut. This fragrance can still be smelt in some "old fashioned" barber shops here in Italy. The more I use my shaving soap, the more I love it and the more I think it is a magnificent shaving soap. I compared it "one to one" to many top notch shaving soaps and, in my opinion, mine is nothing less and in many cases it is even superior to most of them, from lathering to post shave. What else can I say about my Mastro Livi RWL34 straight razor? A superb and extraordinary shaver, a top notch performing razor giving a superior and impeccable shave.

Thanked: 96Razorguy, when my wife and I come to Italy, I am not bringing any shaving supplies. Your products look great. I'll stock up when we sit and enjoy some fine Italian wine, cheese, bread and meat. I convinced my wife Perugia has the finest shopping in Italy, enough said.

That would be absolutely great! I am certainly looking forward in meeting you here in Perugia and spend very good time together while enjoying fine Italian food and wines. I am sure Mastro Livi too will be happy to join us.
Well, while it is true we have fine shops here in Perugia, they are probably not the best you can get in Italy but we are happy with them!
Maybe your wife will believe they are the finest ones in Italy and I will certainly remind her about this all the time!
By doing so I am sure she will not complain that much about our excessive straight razor talking!Last edited by razorguy; 11-15-2015 at 10:42 AM.

Mastro Livi Damascus "100 Layers", 13/16 Extra Full Hollow, Square Point
It was quite a long time I was not using this Mastro Livi "100 Layers" straight razor. It is an extra full hollow ground razor made of Mastro Livi carbon damascus and certainly one of the best singers I have in my collection. The blade is super thin, giving this razor a beautiful voice. Simply amazing how Mastro Livi can get such a very thin cutting edge and blade by just using his hands and grinding wheels. This razor has juniper scales and with its Mediterranean smell absolutely gives an exclusive touch to the shave. I also used my Mastro Livi "Pennello Italiano" (Italian Brush) a great silvertip badger brush absolutely super performing in mounting soap lather. The finishing touch has been given by Old Spice Original after shave, a classic fragrance with a lovely soothing and cooling effect on the skin.
