Post Week of October 3 SOTD - Wednesday

    Last Shave in Vegas

    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
Razor: 6/8" J.R. Torrey, Spike Point
    Brush: 22mm Vulfix Super Badger
Superlather: CarrieM's "Bamboo Teak" Shave Creme + Mama Bear's Trade Winds Shave Soap
    Moisturizer: Calvin Klein One
Result: Today is the last shave in Vegas...I went to see Max for 1 hour about the edge of this blade as it was inconsistent at both toe and heel (middle was OK)...so, Max showed me what was wrong, what to look for and how to go about getting it sharp. He took time out of his busy schedule, accommodated me and spent a good 1/2 hr working the "kink" out. Time spent with this man probably spared me ~2 months of beating my head against the wall trying to figure this stuff out. Thank you Max . The shave was great...both toe and heel were 95% closer to the maximum limit of sharpness and smoothness than what I had...I will incorporate what I learned with Max and work on the rest of the 5%. Honing certainly is a lot of fun (and addictive). For the lather, I used CarrieM's "Bamboo Teak" creme mixed with Mama Bear's soap. Fabulous Superlather with this combo!! Great, satisfying shave...the difference with all mu other shaves is that this came with a priceless lesson from the maestro himself.

BTW: The show "Mystère" was absolutely fabulous...You can never go wrong with Cirque du Soleil. Also, I tried to convince the hotel to let me use of of their black jack tables to setup for today's SOTD shot, but after being transferred and passed around to 5-6 different managers for a decision, I gave up on the idea. It would have been a nice shot though. I am sure that if we were high rollers and dropped $50K in the casino, they would have accommodated us very easily. But, c'est la vie.

Have an awesome Wednesday gentlemen .

So far, so good. This was it's first use, but it worked very well. I've really enjoyed the Simpson two-band brushes.

That is a beautiful Stylo DE...May I ask where did you get yours? I've been (undecidedly) looking and can't find it in stock in the logical online shops!
I picked it up at thesuperiorshave.com. I checked and it is currently out of stock. They do have a chrome/black resin version in stock that looks very nice. I'm sure you can email or call Jared at thesuperiorshave to get some info on when it may be back in stock. He is very helpful and great guy with whom to do business.

    Rene,
That is just fabulous...Congrats!!! First off, you can't go wrong with Chris. He's got some of the best blades around. Second, Max' Faux Tortoise shells are top notch. I don't know where he gets his stuff from (and I don't care), but they are certifiably "Quality" Products and QC-ed by Max himself. So, you have 2 BIG pluses already with that blade already
