Post Week of January 2 SOTD - Thursday

    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
Razor: 7/8" Wacker with laser etched spine, French Point
Brush: 23mm Simpson "Chubby #1", 2-Band, Super Badger
Soap/Überlather: CarrieM "Spicy Cranberry" Shave Creme + Cella Crema Di Barba Shave Soap + Glycerin
Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose Petal, no alcohol)
    Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-free Moisturizer
    Cologne: Creed Original Santal
Results: The Wacker was the choice razor to commemorate the the first workday of the year for me. The CarrieM/Cella Combination überlather was very pleasing. This blade is an incredible "Whisker Wacker" (pun intended ). She's got heft and the horn scales really balance out the blade and make her handling a piece of cake. I guess one can't go wrong with Sheffield steel. I am feeling good and my face is smooth and BBS. Now, if I could only psyche myself and get my head into work mode after a few weeks of down-time ...this is going to be tough. At least it's Thursday and weekend is almost upon us in no time.

What you see in the background is a small tablet with the Armenian Edjmiatsin Church (I think...hard to tell) on the left and the Armenian alphabet on the right. And of course, the unmistakable Armenian "Duduk".

    Have an AMAZING Thursday guys.

What a razor Jeff. Congrats. Bow is an amazing shaver...Judging by the one I've got, that's almost a near wedge to 1/4 hollow.

    Robert,
That Wacker looks oh sooooo nice. I haven't used mine in awhile. Your post reminds me to dig it out of my sock drawer and make good use of it tomorrow.

Nice shaving kit Tieste. I see you like the Merkur HD—just as I do. Congrats!

    sharptonn,
You're right. Such items are priceless. A very nice piece of Americana!

Prep: Hot shower--followed by Robeson bay rum beard prep
    Brush:
    Vie-Long 16510 White Badger
    SC:
    Proraso + 2-3 drops glycerin
    Razor:
    5/8 Case “Red Imp”
Strop: VB Red Latigo--55 fabric; 60 leather
    Astringent: Alum block
    ASB:
    Nivea for Men “Extreme Comfort"
    AS:
    Dominica “Bay Rum”
    Result:
    BBS all the way…

The last time I used this razor, the shave was somewhat unsatisfying. Not anymore. I took it to my SRD paddle strop, where I proceeded to strop it 15-20 strokes on the diamond sprayed hard felt and untreated rough leather. Then I gave it 55 and 60 strokes respectively on the fabric and leather of my daily VB Red Latigo strop. What a difference!
