    Boker 1296/Florena cream/Vulfix 404/Aqua Velva/Arko balm

Added a pinch of menthol crystals to my cream, and the freeze was intense. A pretty good shave, but I did break down and do a touch up under my jaw line with a Super Speed to get BBS. Overall a very refreshing shave. Have a great day gentlemen.

Two pictures with Teddy Baers this week. We should create a new themed SOTD. I've also a lot of baers.

    Glenn,
Hmmmmm...I am hearing a lot of people having difficulty lathering this great soap. What I do with it is this:

    1. Soak brush while showering (never the soap - you will end up with differential dissolution of ingredients which is bad for soap over time. just my $0.02)
    2. Shake excess water off brush, but leave the tips relatively moist (not wet)...hope I make sense
    3. Load the brush with the soap for a good 20 sec
    4. Transfer load to bowl
    5. Wet the tips of brush slightly and repeat 3 & 4, once or twice more
    6. Lather for 90 -120 sec ...Don't be shy with time...go as long as you need (within reason if course)...this thing likes to take her time.

Caveat: I use filtered or distilled water to build lather...I don't like messing with hard water

    Hope this helps buddy

    Robert,
it is an old picture I sent my son. Some of these animals are as asylum seekers in our house.
The mammoths are my son's toys and the Steiff-Teddy is from his girl-friend.
And the curs are my wifes toys- she loves old curs!!!-> me too!!!
But you realized we built a lot of baers in the USA.

Post Week of February 13 SOTD - Tuesday

    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
Brush: 22mm New Forest Silvertip Badger
Razor: 11/16" C.V. Heljestrand #41, Near Wedge, Spike Point, G10 Jade Ghost (Restored by Max)
Strop: 5/10 (Torolf linen/Premium IV leather)
Überlather: Proraso Shave Creme + Mama Bear's "Myyrh" Shave Soap + Gycerin
Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose Petal, no alcohol)
    Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-free Moisturizer
After Shave Splash: Floïd Italian Amber
    Cologne: Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet
Results: Today was a Helje #41 day, the third Maxterpiece in the line up of seven Maxterpieces . As I understand it, the #41 is a fairly rare breed of Heljestrands (but not sure if this is fact or fiction). Whatever the case, I for one, am very glad she's found her way into my collection. . Max fitted her in Jade Ghost clothing with orange wedge. Just look at the pins on this baby...simply gorgeous. Then again, I am biased. Unlike the other 2 blades showcased in the past 2 days which were honed by the maestro himself, this one was honed by yours truly...it took some time to set the bevel and my shoulders are still sore from this activity, but the end result paid off real well. Sharp and popping hair like no one's business. She delivered an exceptionally BBS and smooth shave. The Proraso/Mama Bear combination was a great recipe for some super moist überlicious, überlather. The only major downside of Proraso that I have grown to dislike is that it contains several ingredients that, let's just say are less than "kosher". The major ones are (1) Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, (2) PEG-150 (Poly Ethylene Glycol) distearate , and (3) Propylene Glycol. SLS/PEG are what is usually put in cremes and shampoos to help provide for a thick lather. We routinely use those chemicals to biochemically analyze proteins...so, naturally, I don't want them anywhere on my body . Regardless, I am very happy with today's hardware/software.

FANTASTIC SOTDs this Tuesday...Forgive me for not posting comments on each and every one of your shaves as I find myself very short on time lately, but I do enjoy reading all of them. Makes my day...So, thank you all

    Have an AMAZING Tuesday brothers.

Preshave: Hot shower, lather, strop, lather
Razor: CV Heljestrand No 23. K&B Extra
    Strop: DOVO Cowshide
    Brush: Shavemac 410 28mm
Soap: The Body Shop Maca Root cream
AS: hot towel, cold towel, Alum, strop, Nivea Balm Sensitive
Result: Second shave with the Heljestrand, still getting used to the lack of feedback a wedge gives. Very clean shave with negligible irritation. I thought I used too much pressure but the alum block told me otherwise.

    Tuesday 2/15/11

    Gotta 5/8
    Semogue 830
Prairie Creations Teak and Sandalwood ss
    Thayers Cucumber WH w/ aloe
    444 a/s balm
    C&E Sandalwood Edt

I received the Gotta from Germany yesterday and could hardly wait to try it out. I worked up a some great lather with Krissy's Teak and Sandalwood and proceeded with two passes and a touch-up here and there and had a marvelous shave as a result. The Gotta is a light 5/8 and handles wonderfully. I am certainly very glad I gave myself this gem for my birthday...it was well worth it. And today will be better than yesterday.

Robert, thank you for shedding some light on some of the less "kosher" ingredients in the 'raso. I wonder if the same ingridients are found in the cream...
and sadly the answer is yes, as i found out after checking the tube i have int he bathroom. What do these chemicals do exactly? Would they be accountable for dry skin?
