Wednesday morning
Pre: Hot shower
Brush: Shavemac D01, 24 mm
Razor: Frederick´s celebrated razor
Soap: Nannys The Spicy one
AS: Old Spice Fresh Lime
Strops: Neil Miller
Result: Very, very clean
Wow, how nice was that! Four days and no shave, been sick as a dog (infection in an old root canal job), but now I feel like a new man . I actually think I got some help from the infection, since I didn´t need to stretch my left cheek, it was allready like a balloon . I got a test tub from Sharons (thanks) new formula. My first impression: more cussion and sticky effect and maybe less slippery. I need to test more though. I think I sensed some patchouli in the spice mix. I also got a new brush from a trade, these D01:s knots are very dense and has an extremly soft touch.

High Class | Semogue LE 2010 | Cade Uberlather | Thayers Rose | Cade ASB | Mazzolari Patchouly
Rene (NickNBleeding) sent me this razor to test his edge, which he felt was too harsh. I shaved with it on Monday, and had to agree with Rene's assessment, so, with his permission I gave it a go with my hones.
I taped the spine, and reset the bevel on my Naniwa 1k. Then I gave it the JNat treatment going through a progression of nagura (botan, tenjou, koma, nakayama honzan, and tomonagura) on my Oozuku Assagi. I then lapped the Oozuku using my Iwasaki-choice Nakayama and did 50 laps with water only on the Oozuku. I then used my Oozuku Suita with water only for 100 laps. By the end of the session, this High Class was popping arm hairs mid-shaft.
Today was the test shave for my honing, and the razor was just as its name says--High Class! The cade uberlather turned our perfect. It was moist and slick with excellent cushion. The blade sliced through the hair like a hot knife in butter. I had a very good DFS after one pass, but couldn't resist and found myself BBS after two! IMHO, this baby is ready to return to its rightful owner!
Great SOTD posts, gentlemen. Thank you for letting me place my humble offerings alongside such fabulous artwork!Last edited by LegalBeagle; 02-16-2011 at 11:25 AM.

Thanked: 1072Strop: MickR's Kangaroo HideThanks for all your posts and pics fellas.
Brush: Comoy Badger
Soap: Tabac
Razor: Shortened Bengall 11/16
Astringent: Thayer's Original Witch Hazel
A/S: Wahl Bay Rum
This is only my second shave with this razor, and its even better than last time after a little refinement on the edge. I'm really happy with it, the edge is great and the razor is very comfortable, light, well balanced and easy to use. 3 passes and I'm clean and smooth.
I found this old Pharmacists bottle in an Antique Store today, and couldn't resist it, much more character than the white plastic bottle the Bay Rum came in.

Robert, I think you are right about the distilled water. I normally use it, except when I'm traveling. I'll try it when I get home.
Have a great Wednesday gentlemen!
