Hello Webs and welcome to SOTD and SRP. The stone you see is called Nagura. It is used to raise slurry against a bigger stone, called the JNat (Japanese Natural). These are called natural hones, which are in turn used to sharpen razors. Natural, because they were mined from mountains in Kyoto. There are different kinds of JNats, each with a different purpose and grit factor (i.e., roughness). There are also synthetic hones (like Nortons, Naniwas, Shaptons, etc...) as there are a number of other types of natural stones/hones like Eschers, Thuringians, Coticules, etc.

Congratulations Monnbeam. This blade took a good long time to make her way to you, but she's finally here.

Now, I am going to call everyone I know in your neck of the woods and have them stay off the roads, LOL...otherwise you'll be leaving a 10km trail of blood and bodies, LOL, LOL.

We missed you on SOTD my friend. Can't wait to see this blade (and badger) of yours in action

    Mikael,
Now, that sounds like a heavenly shave. The "shaving zone" is an beautiful place to be in. Congrats

Congrats. You're absolutely right. We all obsess over that all elusive "perfect" edge. But, that's the name of the game and what makes this fun

This was the first run with this new DE.

He still has 12 months of Chemotherapy to go, and I've seen enough kids relapse that I will probably never stop worrying, but this is a very, very good stage to be at. We are very fortunate.
    Grant,
We will be worrying with you, but as you said, this is a very good stage to be in. There are far more kids that come out of this free and clear than those that relapse. Jack is strong and will pull through

BTW: Great DE. Congrats. Looks like a Gillette design...I am almost certain.

Congrats on yesterday and today's shave. I have not yet had that problem, but I can see how the skin may still be content from a BBS shave. Tomorrow will be better

Looks like a great shave Robert. That cream sounds pretty nice, but I'm not familiar with it. Where does one find it?

Hmmm... wonder if I can automatically cross-post my SOTD to or from Twitter?

BRUSH: Vu Kim Son PSB-002 Limited
SCUTTLE: 8th Anniversary present, hand-thrown by my wife
BLADE: Black & Tan G10 scaled Frederick Reynolds 7/8 near-wedge
FRAGRANCE: Egoiste Cologne Concentree, a rainy-day favorite.

Glorious shave, my first with this blade since purchasing on the classifieds. Gorgeous restore and rescale by maniaman, honed by Maximilian. Thanks, gentlemen!
