LOL, Kids are wonderful side effects. Enjoy them (and your splits). Your efforts will pay off at the end, making it worth all the pain. At least, that's what was told, LOL
Thanks Bill
Nice composition and shave Teiste
It's a drag getting such Heidelburg Scars...the downside and risk of using a sharp object, LOL. but "c'est la vie"...I hope that this turns out to be just a mild "Heidelburg Slice" and won't lead to a permanent scar.
Thank you Bruce for the kind words. I may, at some point, commission Rudy to do a similar one in Snakewood or other. Thoughts or wood recommendations?
Bruce,
A smooooooth sailing shave today. Beautiful Gillette btw
That's Max for you.
Thanks Mikael.
I know Ehsan...this is exactly the moment I have been eagerly waiting and dreading at the same time. I have been getting pretty nice edges recently, but this weekend, I was catapulted to a whole other dimension in honing zone. I don't recall having done anything out of the ordinary or special on this time. If anything, I skimped a bit on the Nagura progression, but somehow the stars must have been aligned...The edge was awesome (to me, at least). I just hope I can reproduce it again...if not, I will go crazy (and so will my wife, LOL).
Thank you Rum. And yes, the smell in the den was amazing. Wife was poking her head in every 3 minutes for her pure pleasure. The combination was amazing. Next up (soon) for me will be the Cyril Rose + SRD's Rose. That, I really can't wait for. SRD's Rose is really amazing.
This is exactly what makes shaving soooooo much fun: The infinite variety of things one can try: 1) combination of soaps/cremes, 2) different blades, 3) different brushes, 4) hot/cold lather, 5) face/bowl lathering, etc, etc, etc...Last edited by Maximilian; 03-08-2011 at 01:08 AM. Oh no, I thought all the SRP community agrees that females should wait outside the bathroom, no matter what. To avoid blood being drawn with our blades (elbow resting against the door anyone?) and other reasons....
Yes, I agree! Variety, good scents and a nice sharp blade all make the morning more interesting!

Thanked: 2516I haven't seen any brushes done in a Birdseye Maple. I have seen some scales made of that wood and they are beautiful! I think a brush handle of Birdseye Maple (with the little black dots in the light wood) would really be nice done in a clear coating. But, that is just my fantasy Robert, I don't mean to be to directorial. LOL Just my thoughts.

SOTD -- 3.7.2011
New Forest 2201 | Acca Kappa | H.Diamond | Alum | Sabon Aftershave Balm | Annick Goutal Vetiver
At first, I could not get the Acca Kappa to lather. I started face lathering with it and it has instantly become one of my favorites.

Thanked: 0Monday morning shave
hot water | van der Hagen mixed with Tigerbalm (Tigerhagen) | Mühle Badger | ROMO Solingen | cold water | Aqua Velva Ice Blue
My home-brew "Tigerhagen" is a wake-up-monster, the ROMO a very smooth killer (my favorite str8 right now) and AV is over and over again a refreshing-kick.
Made it a bit easier to start this monday morning.

Haaha...That is an interesting thought, but I actually enjoy my wife's occasional "cautious" interruptions. She's got the ritual down packed and know when and how to interrupt.
Bruce,
I appreciate the thought and recommendations my friend and never see it as dictatorial at all. So, by all means, advice of all kind is always welcome.
I actually talked to Rudy about Birdseye Maple (I love this wood too...Max uses it in rescales...or at least used to) and Snakewood and he recommended against them. The maple because it is not an oily wood and the snakewood because it is very $$$ (and not oily). He's recommended dalbergias most all Rosewoods, African Blackwood, and Lignum Vitae. African Blackwood sounds interesting to me.
Awesome shave Doug. It's a great feeling wiping few days of growth.
Jim,
You fit right in...Only the insane are welcome here, where insanity is the ONLY way to be, LOL. Welcome to the club
Great combo Frank
Hey René,
What a wonderful shave. That homebrew of yours sounds quite the kicker. And certainly a very nice blade.
