Fonty, that's an amazing shot, and a damn fine razor!

Thanks for the wishes Jeff, now comes the hard part: what razor and gear do I pack for the trip?

Post Week of April 17 SOTD - Tuesday

    Honing Experiment (Series 2 - Asagi w/Atoma slurry "Polish/Finish")

    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
Brush: 22mm New Forest Silvertip Badger
Razor: 6/8" Geneva Cutlery, Full Hollow, Round Point (from Rene)
    Honing Regimen: Shapton Pro 1k/2k/5k/12k
Strop: 0 laps (Neil Miller linen/Premium IV leather)
Überlather: TABAC Shave Creme + TABAC Shave Soap + Glycerin
Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose Petal, no alcohol)
    Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-free Moisturizer
After Shave Splash: Floïd Italian Blue
Results: Today was the last of the series in experiments I am doing to correlate various honing regimen with quality of shaves. The edge being tested today is the Asagi with Atoma slurry. Again, for more details you can see HERE. What a terrific shave. The Shaptons put a fantastic edge on this blade, but it seems like the Asagi dialed that back just a tad bit, but smoothness was amazing. BBS and ready for my lunch meeting today. This shave is rated as follows: (1) Sharpness: 9.0, and (2) Smoothness: 9.5. Next on the agenda for this experiment, is to hone the 3 blades using random regimen (blinded study( and send them back to Rene who will test shave with them and report back. Once finished, I will un-blind the study for a better assessment of what we have. So, stay tuned for Rene's report in the next week or so.

It only takes me about 10 minutes incl. stropping to get a "close enough shave for work" with a straight.
About the same time it takes me with a DE.

When I first started it took about 45 minutes with a straight razor.

I'm 15 min. without stropping and it's still too much in the morning rush.
