Shave of the Day
May 7, 2011
Pre: Hot shower, Nivea face wash, Musgo Real Glyce Soap
Brush: Omega Scarlatti
Razor: #54 Regeldso Solingen 6/8
Merkur 38C w/Personna blade
SC: Truefitt & Hill West Indian Limes
After: T&H West Indian Limes Balm
Cologne: T&H West Indian Limes
**This is not my photo. It is my razor but I didn't take this great shot.**
My first crack at the straight razor. Stropped it 30 on the webbed fabric and 50 on the leather. Poppin' hairs with a "ping". Lathered up real good with delicious smelling T&H West Indian Limes and went at it. Not so good. Felt awkward holding the razor. Then it felt as though the blade was getting caught on the stubble. Gave it better angle and guided the blade against my face and it began to take off hairs. Not too bad I thought. This was on my left side and all I did was the cheek. Then I went onto the right side and did the same. Not too bad.
Then I tried my upper lip area but abandoned that idea. Not comfortable. Then I started next to my mouth to the left and that's when it happened... The razor dug in! Got a nice cut a little over a quarter of an inch long. Bled pretty good.
Then I resorted to my Merkur 38C to finish up.
I think this blade (the Regeldso straight razor) is shave ready. She's a beaut to look at and pops hair off my arm pretty effortlessly. Probably just gotta work on my technique and confidence.Last edited by PaulCam; 05-09-2011 at 03:55 AM.

Thank you everyone for all the anniversary wishes! I skipped the shave on Saturday and with Mother's day and such missed looking back on this thread as I had jumped into the next week SOTD. Thanks gentlemen!
