Thanked: 1072Strop: Illinois 835Thanks for all the great posts and pics fella's
Brush: Comoy Badger
Uber: Col. Conk's Amber + Faulding Cream + Glycerin
Razor: Bengall Full Concave 6/8
Astringent: Thayer's Witch Hazel
Balm: Nivea Replenishing
A/S: Wahl Bay Rum
I hate to admit it but the kids have been testing my patience tonight. As soon as they were in bed I was in the shower and looking forward to shaving. A nice slow 3 pass Uber lather shave thinking about nothing but the art of shaving was just what I needed to chase the crankyness away.
Result: Absolute, no question about it, BBS. This razor rocks.

Pre-shave: Noxzema
Brush: Rooney pure badger
Soap: Omega
AS: Thayers Lavender and Clubman Original
Result: I picked this razor up yesterday morning at one of the local antique shops for $3. Whoever had it before me did a terrible rescale in bass wood. Before spending the time to rescale it right, I decided to hone it up to see if it was even worth the time. I must say that even with the balence off, this razor honed and shaved like a dream. Had a completely different feel than most of the other American steel that I've used. Can't wait to rescale it properly and shave with it again.

That's awesome Sten. Use her in good health. I don't know of too many blades that are made of brass. She must be unique
Jamie,
Congratulations on this NF purchase. That's a wonderful brush. Did Peter make a custom handle for this one? The reason I ask is because the Tubby handles that I have seen the pictures of are "square-ish" looking. This one is real nice indeed. Also, well done on the L'Occitane purchase(s). What did you end up getting? or perhaps we should wait, LOL?
An excellent shave I am sure Konstantinos
Birnando,
Sorry about the rain, but what a nice way to offset it with this gorgeous Sub Cero/Penhaligon. Looking forward to your other Filis this week.
I know what you mean Mikael...reaching for straights is an instinctual reaction for me too. My DE are heavy paper weights these days (although I did get some Bolzano blades recently).
Vinny???
I love your shave today Mikael. Great "stuff"
First class combination Béla. I love the handle on that Shavemac
Grant,
But that's the job description (e.g., annoy your parents and test their patience) most kids come with and they execute that job very well, LOOOL. Sorry that the situation put you in a cranky mood brother, but glad to hear you were able to (literally) wash it away with this beautiful shave. I love that Bengall mate. She does rock (and roll)
A fabulous shave for a fabulous Friday. Enjoy it GI
What a beautiful smiling blade Rene. She's really got personality. Great job by Glen too
T.,
Great score, and I agree with you; those scales have got to go. Have fun
Great razor and tribute to Mark. Well done
I bet it was nice Frank. Can't wait for your photo brother
Wowww King...Great Wacker and sounds like you made a nice looking custom brush

Robert, I am sorry for the confusion here. The frame is all brass, the blade itself is steel. That is, the tang and the spine is all one piece of brass. I have seen many framebacks where the spine alone was brass, especially those that that has a tube brass spine that slide on, like the one I used in today's shave, where the blade and the tang is one piece of steel. I just have not seen another frameback where the tang and the spine is one brass piece like that.
Edit while typing:
Heh, reading back I can see that perhaps the confusion here is right now, on my part. If so, forgive me, I still think it's best to clarify.Last edited by str8fencer; 06-10-2011 at 03:07 PM.
