Wednesday Morning
The cut has healed up nicely, so I am back to my regular shaving routine
Pre-Shave: Warm shower Brush: Simpson Polo 12, 2-band Super Badger Razor: Revisor, 8/8", "Müngstener Brücke", Horn scales Honing Regimen: First shave, left it as delivered. Strop: Kanayama #90000, tri-strop Soap/Cream: Mitchell's Wool Fat Scuttle:Schwarzweisskeramik, Large White Astringent: Osma Alum After shave Balm: Truefitt & Hill Classic ASB EdT: Paco Rabanne, 1Million Results: A very nice shave. This big new blade was a pleasure to use. It is a full hollow, and delivered a smooth and comfortable shave. Very well balanced and the craftsmanship is flawless. There aren't all that many companies out there producing quality razors, I'm glad to see that this little outfit delivers the goods in such a fantastic way.

Pre-Shave: Hot shower Brush: Semogue 2010 LE #66 Razors:H.J. Herskovitz - 13/16 Sheffield and 11/16 Genco Strop: Kanayama Soap/Cream: Lorenzo Villoresi Uomo soap Astringent: Thayer's Lavender After shave Balm: L'Occitane Cade EdT: Carven Vetiver (Vintage) Results: Today was a test shave for the first two blades I've honed on my new Chosera stones. I had volunteered, prior to my vacation, to hone a few blades for Rene. This seemed like a good way to get to know my new stones. He graciously took me up on my offer and these are the first two of the three he sent me to be test shaved (I didn't want to get too crazy with a testing three razors as I was worried one would be neglected). In our discussions, we decided to do a little blind test as well. I've taken each of the three razors he sent through my Choseras (1k, 5k and 10k). One was finished on the 10k with no further finishing stone; one is finished on my vintage Thuringian; and the third was finished with a full nagura progression on my Oozuku Suita. I'm happy to say that these two seem to have turned out quite well. They both gave an excellent shave. After two passes and clean up, I am gloriously BBS. The Villoresi soap, though, I'm sad to say was not quite the star of the shave I'd hoped. The scent is divine, but the performance was seriously lacking. I'm hopnig this is merely a function of my not having tried this particular soap previously. Of course, all was made up for when I applied the finishing touch of Carven Vetiver (a recent gift from Max). Great shaves shown this week so far, have a tremendous day, gentlemen!

The Friodur is an 11/16th round point 701/2. I'm not sure of the age but it was NOS when I got it. Factory edge. Anyone have a date on it?
Well If I am nuts I'm in great company!!!!
I'm soooo impressed with this shave! I am now officially in love with this blade!!!"We sleep soundly in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm."

06-22-2011, 01:59 PM #158Razor: Bismark
Pre-shave: Noxzema
Brush: Unknown boar
Soap: Handmade Naturals Frankincense
AS: Thayers Lavender and Clubman Original
Result: I hadn't shaved for a couple of days out of pure laziness. Decided to rejoin the clean shaven world today with a shave from this Bismark. She's not the flashiest. She's not the biggest. She is the true work horse in my rotation, though. Gives nothing less than a DFS every time. Coupled with the frankincense soap, I had one hell of an enjoyable shave today. Nice and smooth and ready to face whatever the world has to throw at me today.

Mysore sandalwood soap
Feather AS-D1
Feather blade
Arko cream
NF Finest silvertip
Alum
L'Occitane Bavx balm + Propolis
L'Occitane Bavx EDT
Unusual time of day for myself to have a shave mid afternoon, but the house was empty and I really enjoyed the shave, listening to vintage TV 60s and 70s, if only I could go back just for a month to the late 1960s, why dont I just shut and stop being a poor nostalgic old fart, and talk about the shave, one shave pass, with minor clean up, yes boys one pass shave you heard it right I was cooking on gas today, that Feather AS-D1 was like it was being used by the greatest Samurai warrior Miyamoto Musashi, if those whiskers had legs man they would have run a mile.
