Zephyr Beautiful pic! However your picture from awhile back on the B&B SOTD forum with the camping scene and the Rambo knife is AWESOME!!!!

    Cool Shower
    Warm Oil
    Dirty Bird
    New Forest Brush
    Gentleman's Best Sig./Cella/Glycerine Uber lather
    Gebr.Becker Black King, full hollow
    AOS Aluminum
    Clubman AS
    Vaseline for men.

This was the first razor I honed a while back. I thought I could get a better edge so I ran it on the 12K, Crox and then stropped. The edge was nice and smooth and did a nice job. I only did two passes tonight. The lather was nice also since it had a weird but nice aroma from the Cella and Sig. Series.

After cleaning the razor, the edge of the scale broke off as can be seen in the picture. I think this is going to be my first re-scaling job.

    Enjoy.

    He better look after them!!!
Your fine work on the Bengal was what convinced me to try CA finishes and this photo clearly shows why. Fantastic job on the carving set, top notch my friend :

    Default Spice Fest

    Where: Colorado
    When: 7:00- 7:45 Pm
Prep: Hot shower, Hot towel face soak followed Ogallala BR Pre-Shave splash, Olive Oil
Soap: Omega Creme, Lloyd's with Glycerin (PG) drops
    Razor: Henckles Friodur 4/8
Strop: Star Shaving 3" big daddy
    Styptic: Hemo Stop
AS: Tend Skin followed by Ogallala BR Sandlewood AS/Skin Toner
Cologne: Ogallala Bay Rum w/ Sage & Cedar

Whipped up one wicked lather tonight trying a new combination that apparently worked rather well. Best lather to date.

The Friodur performed as expected of a Glen restored razor. But, my technique tonite proved to be very lax and after 3 passes and much razor burn I had to touch up with the cart.

That's where the styptic and the tend skin came in handy. I prepped before each pass as if it were my first pass, and even managed a ATG on the left side of my jaw tonite!

All in all an excellent beginning to a fine evening of alternating rain and sunshine. Beautiful!!

Thanks for all the sharing gents!! Fine work.

Prep: Oil cleansing method, hot shower then TSD Preshave Balm
Brush: Omega Pro Boar-the big one
    Cream: Cella
Mug: Honkin' black coffee mug from Bi-mart thing will probably hold a quart of whatever.
    Strop: Ruprazor Paladin 40canvas 60Leather
    Razor: 4/8 Filarmonica #10
    Post shave balm: Nivea "Replenishing"

It looks like when I take the James Barber from yesterday to the hones the Filli is going to have to join it. Other than that it really was a pleasant shave. Now if everything else in life would just smooth out. The D.O.T. started repairs on the main road up to the hospital where I work and honestly....it could have been thought out better. Took an extra 45 minutes to get home and they plan on the project taking two and a half months. Only good part is that I'll be gone for a part of it. Well I guess it could be worse....I could work in the mailroom

    Shave on-

    Dominic,
Congrats on both razors. That Maxtom is an amazing looking blade. That is the first of its kind with Max' "elite" signature all over it. The TI ain't bad either.

I can't believe you were not aware of Max' website. Dominic scored a very nice one indeed.

I picked up a couple of razors at the antique shop. I figured I would learn how to hone on these before unleashing myself on my Boker! I must say, I didn't do too bad.
Congratulations. That is a great move indeed, but I must caution against getting overconfident during the initial stages. take your time and make sure you stay with these razors when honing until it really becomes second nature.

    Rune,
Fabulous shot and shave buddy. That's a great honing regimen, but I agree with you. This beautiful blade should get professionally honed until you get comfortable with the above honing regimen. And you will get comfortable for sure in no time.

    Nic,
Nice way to get back to the Futur buddy. I love it. How do you like the Treet? For me, it's been touch and go (sometimes great, and sometimes not)...That is when I used the DE more often

Nice razor Jeff and congrats on achieving the edge that she deserves. I guess both condolences and congratulations are in order for the scales.

    Mike,
I love the fact that you take your time with shaves. Very nice. Sorry about the irritation/razor burn. How do you like the Big Daddy Strop (draw, etc,)? Great choice with the Ogallala too.

    Michael,
Those Filis take on a keen and smooth edge...so, when she comes off the stones, she will be a different beast altogether. Hang tight about life's trials and tribulations. They always seem to work themselves out. This brotherhood is pulling for you buddy.
